Position Overview
The Specialist, Quality – Grain role supports the Plant Supervisor in ensuring all food safety and quality objectives are met while reinforcing a strong food safety culture across the site. This position serves as a subject‑matter expert for HACCP, PCQI, and SQF requirements, owning the daily execution and continuous improvement of the site’s Quality Management System. Responsibilities include managing sanitation, environmental monitoring, audits, and investigations, validating food safety testing, and ensuring regulatory and customer compliance. This role is ideal for a confident, solutions‑oriented quality professional who are comfortable working independently, influencing the facility, and standing firm on food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Plant Supervisor to ensure food safety/quality objectives are met
Ensure plant sanitation efforts are effective and documented
Manage the daily needs of the assigned site’s Safe Quality Food (SQF) based Quality Management System
Perform investigational process to prevent and eliminate microbiological concerns
Manage the site’s integrated environmental management program
Perform customer service complaint investigations
Lead the plant in maintaining SQF certification status
Create and update plant food safety and quality programs, as needed
Complete needed internal audits of facility and grounds, as well as traceability audits and mock recalls
Investigate food safety incidents, discuss related issues and prepare plans for improvement
Monitor and manage the plant’s Integrated Pest Control Program
Monitor incoming packaging, ingredients etc. for deficiencies and communicate any issues
Verify and validate all daily food safety and quality tests are being performed
Manage finished product and raw material status through the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree required (or the equivalent in work experience)
1-3 years’ relevant experience required
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
Both office and plant environment
May be required to travel to other Andersons sites to assist in internal audits
Usually work a standard work week (normal business hours), but may be required to work overtime hours
Extensive computer work
Frequent deadline pressures
Manage numerous projects in progress at any given time
Comply with all Andersons safety regulations
Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
