The Project Engineer role leads various sustaining projects through the Develop & Manage Projects process, as required by the Facilities Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability and Operations Departments. The primary focus of projects is typically related to topsides modifications or replacements driven by regulatory direction or risk mitigations as defined by Terra Nova’s Strategic Asset Management Plan.Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering and registration with PEGNL is required
7 years of related experience with a preference for experience in petro-chemical/oil and gas industry
Familiarity with project management systems and controls and/or Professional Certification (PMP, etc.)
Ability to collaborate with and influence various internal and external stakeholders on technical & project decisions, is required.
Demonstrated experience with adhering to industry standard project delivery models and associated project management systems such as EH&S, cost control, planning, quality, document control and management of change.
Experience and knowledge of the design, maintenance, and operating principles for offshore production facilities (topsides and/or subsea).
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to manage and motivate external third parties, including consultants and sub-contractors, and support the interface with joint venture partners and regulatory bodies.
Excellent communication, presentation and reporting skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop and issue third party scope of work documentation, as required, to support the assigned projects.
Kick-off, manage and deliver engineering projects required to progress through a gated project delivery model
Act as primary interface with Terra Nova’s Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication (EPF) contractor(s) and coordinate delivery and review & approval of project documentation with Suncor Subject Matter Experts, as required
Manage and provide project stewardship to Suncor leadership pertaining to assigned projects against relevant KPI metrics
Interface and coordinate with other business unit functions and external third parties to support the planning, delivery and execution of the assigned projects.
Coordinate the review of project documentation delivered by the EPF contractor(s) in a timely manner as part of various engineering peer reviews, risk assessments/analysis, action closures and readiness reviews from project initiation through closeout.
Effectively coordinate with Operations & Maintenance teams to ensure efficient offshore execution of project work.
Prepare, coordinate and present project gate packages, following Suncor best practice templates, for assigned Project Gate Reviews and associated Gatekeeper approvals.
Location and other Key Details:
You will work out of the Suncor Centre Offices located at 130 Kelsey Drive, St. John's, Newfoundland.
Primarily office work, but will include offshore travel (2-3 times per year) by helicopter to Terra Nova FPSO.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
Possible infrequent business travel to other locations, e.g. international sites for project management / oversight, and/or offshore Terra Nova.
