The G&A Budgeting & Reporting Specialist plays a key role in driving the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of corporate non-salary budgeting and reporting processes across the organization. This position sits at the intersection of systems, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration—serving as a critical enabler of data integrity, operational excellence, and informed decision-making.

As part of the G&A Budgeting & Reporting Team, this role partners closely with Accounting and cross-functional stakeholders to administer core financial systems, enhance workflows, and support budgeting and forecasting cycles. The Specialist will lead initiatives that streamline processes, improve user experience, and strengthen internal controls, while also supporting onboarding, training, and knowledge management efforts.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Accounting System Management: Manage and maintain user roles, security protocols, general ledger accounts, and account trees to support accurate corporate reporting and budgeting for the entire organization.
  • ServiceNow Ticketing System Maintenance & Management: Lead the maintenance and continuous improvement of 30+ accounting forms, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and system alignment.
  • Documentation and Process Management: Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of accounting process documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accessibility.
  • Content Management: Oversee the management and optimization of Intranet content, ensuring all internal resources are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
  • Resource Distribution:Create Accounting & Budgeting Resources, and Training Material. Manage maintenance, and distribution of essential resources for Associates, ensuring accessibility and efficiency & training when needed.
  • Onboarding & Training: Manage the initial stages of the onboarding process including email communication, technology set-up, and coordinating training for all Accounting new hires.           
  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects as assigned, driving strategic initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the department.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in financial systems administration, accounting operations, or corporate budgeting environments, with demonstrated involvement in budgeting, reporting, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements, system enhancements, or workflow optimization.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
  • Experience supporting or administering ERP or financial systems (e.g., Yardi, Oracle, SAP, Workday Financials) is a plus.
  • Experience working with workflow or ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and/or content management. platforms (e.g., SharePoint) a plus.
  • Real estate, REIT, or property management industry experience is a plus.

WHAT THE JOB REQUIRES:

  • Operates in a fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly to change, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with in‑person office requirements a minimum of four days per week (Monday through Thursday) at Essex’s corporate offices in Woodland Hills or Irvine. Hybrid policy subject to change at Essex’s sole discretion.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods with minimal physical exertion in daily tasks.
  • Minimal travel may be required for occasional meetings, training sessions, or company events.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions in situations with multiple variables. Possesses solid analytical and quantitative skills.

New hires generally start between $62,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
