Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About the role
As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner - Short Term Refuge, this is your opportunity to deliver robust assessments, crisis response and specialist FV crisis case management services to victim survivors in the short-term refuge. The role includes working with individuals and families intensively to provide support to move through the crisis and refuge program to safe and long-term accommodation.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent full-time role, located in Coburg North, VIC.
How you will make an impact
Establish effective, supportive relationships with clients that promote self-determination and participation, and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care.
Provide specialist family violence case management and crisis support in line with TSA case management models, standards of practice, program requirements and the Victorian Refuge Eligibility and Prioritisation framework.
Conduct ongoing assessments of client needs and circumstances, develop individual case plans in collaboration with clients, implement plans led by the client, and monitor progress to ensure goals are met.
Assist clients to access holistic support services, build community connections, advocate with service providers as needed, and provide immediate material aid and other supports for adult and child victim survivors.
Maintain accurate client records and data, identify and report risks to clients, staff and TSA, recommend service delivery improvements, and ensure key performance indicators are achieved within required timeframes.
What you will bring
A Tertiary qualification in Social Work (essential)
Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Workers (Recommendation 209)
Experience working in the family violence sector (desirable)
Demonstrated experience in specialist family violence and/or child wellbeing work
Demonstrated case management experience
Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
A current VIC drivers licence and employee Working with Children’s Check
