Conveyor Technician Job Description

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Conveyor Mechanic to maintain and repair our client baggage handling system related material handling equipment. The successful candidate will ensure optimal system performance, minimize downtime, and maintain safety standards across our system operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair Perform routine preventive maintenance on conveyor systems, including belt adjustments, motor servicing, and component lubrication. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting procedures. Replace worn components such as belts, rollers, bearings, and drive motors to maintain system efficiency.

 

Safety & Compliance Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure all systems meet OSHA and company safety standards. Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate service records. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols during all maintenance activities.

 

Technical Support Respond to emergency breakdown calls and perform urgent repairs to minimize production interruptions. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or major overhauls.

 

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred. Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in industrial maintenance, preferably with conveyor systems or material handling equipment.

 

Technical Skills Experience with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with motor controls, sensors, and PLC systems.

 

Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and work in various positions including standing, kneeling, and working overhead. Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when required.

 

Work Environment

This position operates in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, electrical equipment, and varying noise levels. Safety equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots are required.

 

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

62,400.00 – 72,800.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
