Job description:

Job title:  Specialist, Compliance, Metal Sales  

The position owns site-level compliance governance, including policies, procedures, internal controls, audit readiness, and risk management, ensuring that responsible minerals requirements are embedded into day-to-day smelter and supply chain operations and are consistently applied, auditable, and defensible.

 

1.     Responsible Minerals Compliance Framework, Site Policies, Procedures and Internal Controls.

1.1 Establish and maintain a structured, responsible minerals compliance framework for the Smelter.
1.2 Translate external standards and regulatory requirements into practical site-level controls integrated into operational and supply chain processes.
1.3 Maintain oversight of compliance risks associated with mineral sourcing, traceability, and supplier engagement.
1.4 Ensure site documentation aligns with group policies and applicable accreditation requirements, while accurately reflecting smelter-specific operations and risk exposure.
1.5 Coordinate policy and procedure drafting, review, approval, and version control in line with document governance requirements.
1.6 Monitor implementation and effectiveness of site procedures and internal controls.
1.7 Identify gaps between documented procedures and actual practice and drive corrective actions.
1.8 Ensure all documentation is current, accessible, and audit-ready.

2.     Standards and Regulatory Alignment

2.1 Lead site-level conformance with responsible minerals standards, including RMI / RMAP, OECD Due Diligence Guidance, and standards.
2.2 Monitor changes in standards, regulatory developments, and customer expectations.
2.3 Assess impacts of changes and coordinate site implementation plans.
2.4 Support alignment with internal governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.

3.     Supply Chain Due Diligence and Risk Management

3.1 Oversee supplier due diligence processes, including KYC, red flag identification, and risk classification.
3,2 Coordinate Annex II risk assessments where elevated supply chain risks are identified.
3.3 Develop, implement, and monitor supplier risk mitigation and corrective action plans.
3.4 Escalate material compliance risks to site and corporate governance forums.

4.     Audit, Assurance and Verification

4.1 Act as the primary site focal point for responsible minerals–related audits and assessments.
4.2 Coordinate third-party assurance activities, including RMI / RMAP assessments and customer audits.
4.3 Maintain continuous audit readiness through structured evidence management and control testing.
4.4 Track audit findings, corrective actions, and closure to completion.

5.     Documentation, Recordkeeping and Reporting

5.1 Ensure accurate, complete, and retrievable records are maintained in line with responsible minerals standards and regulatory expectations.
5.2 Oversee document control for policies, procedures, supplier records, and due diligence evidence.
5.3 Support the preparation of internal compliance reports and external disclosures where required.
5.4 Ensure record retention requirements are consistently applied.

6.     Internal Engagement and Compliance Support

6.1 Provide technical compliance guidance to Supply Chain, Commercial, Operations, ESG, and Risk teams.
6.2 Support training and awareness initiatives related to responsible minerals compliance and site procedures.
6.3 Promote consistent application of compliance requirements across the Smelter and downstream supply chain operations.
Contribute to internal governance, risk, and assurance forums.

7.     Continuous Improvement and Compliance Maturity

7.1 Identify control weaknesses and opportunities to strengthen compliance maturity.
Support the development of compliance metrics and performance indicators.
7.2 Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and governance effectiveness.
7.3 Support integration of responsible minerals compliance into broader ERM and ESG structures.

                  

Qualifications

All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or equivalent, a Master's degree is an added Advantage.

  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply ZIPS/ZICA

Experience

  • Full in a job-related major or equivalent and 8 to 10 years of related experience in senior management; or a combination of education and experience

  • Analytical skills and working with volumes of data

  • Well-rounded understanding of Mining operations

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations (e.g. Companies’ Act, local mining laws, etc.)

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant global best practices and applicable regulations

  • Good command of the English Language (speaking and writing)

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
