NO DEGREE REQUIRED! This is a M-F full-time role located in southern Indiana at our Clarksville Excel Center. The general range on this role is $17-$20/hr. and includes full benefits (below).
Under the direction of the school director and the Special Education (SPED) Instructor, the SPED Paraprofessional assists in providing appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in accordance with a student’s Individual Education Program (IEP). The Paraprofessional works closely with staff to create a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, such that the students benefit from the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible when assisted with supplemental aids, accommodations, and other needed supports. The position works with the instructional team in meeting educational goals and adhering to the Indiana Academic Standards.
Example Duties and Activities
Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff; including assistance in reading, note-taking, and study strategies, and helping with remediation plans for students who are struggling while maintaining classroom order and discipline.
Communicates with the SPED staff regarding any problem or special information about an individual student.
Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the SPED Instructor.
Assists as directed by certified staff to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the IEP/504/ESL team(s).
Develops personal professional/performance goals and action plans to reach goals. Reflects on prior goals and makes adjustments to professional practice and goals.
Works directly with the staff to develop and implement school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc.
Works with coaches and leadership staff to aid students’ progress toward graduation and postsecondary planning.
Assists staff with professional development, training, and goal setting.
Sets and maintains a high-performance culture for staff and students.
Participates in student recruitment and outreach efforts.
