Richland County Treasurer's Office -- Special Collections Coordinator
This position is responsible for coordinating the special collections of advance and partial real estate and business taxes. The incumbent is also responsible for the special collection of dealer generated motor vehicle taxes and all county NSF check collections. This position is under the general guidance of and reports to the Deputy Treasurer and Manager of Accounting. This position regularly interacts with the DMV division of the Department of Public Safety, directors, supervisors and staff in the Assessor's, Auditor's and other county departments and the general public. This position may be required to perform special projects as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel.
Regularly responsible for the collection of advance and partial payments ensuring all State regulations and laws are observed and enforced.
Regularly responsible for contract administration of special collections ensuring all State regulations and laws are observed and enforced.
Regularly interviews clients for contract consideration and develops appropriate strategies/actions to ensure that the County ultimately receives required payments.
Regularly suspends driver license and registration privileges using direct access to the Department of Motor Vehicles computer system to control violators who have not paid required taxes on time.
Regularly maintains NSF files for all County departments and monitors /balances of all special collection accounts to ensure that the Treasurer's office accounts for monies owed to the Treasurer's office.
Monthly directs and monitors the mailing of second notice dealer generated tax bills and late notices for all special collection accounts to ensure that the County is in receipt of all monies due as specified under State regulations.
