General Purpose of Job:

The Director of the South Texas Perinatal Alliance will lead a transformative initiative to elevate maternal and neonatal health outcomes across South Texas. This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing Driscoll Health System’s mission to standardize perinatal care, ensuring that every mother and infant receives high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care.

Working collaboratively with Neonatologists, Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists, Obstetricians, and perinatal service teams, the Director will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of care protocols. They will guide system-wide adherence to best practices, promote outcome-based care, and support families throughout pregnancy and NICU experiences.

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. 
  • Manages the Perinatal Quality Coordinators at DHS owned NICUs.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with other NICUs in DCH’s Perinatal Care Region and supports outreach and educational programs aimed at improving clinical outcomes.
  • Oversees training and orientation process for VON abstractors.
  • Monitors the collection of Vermont Oxford Network (VON) data at all participating partner NICUs, validating data and addressing any variances in practice related to data definitions.
  • Benchmarks and tracks VON metrics at participating NICUs to assess performance and quality outcomes.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement from data trends and variations and works with partner NICUs to implement improvements using the Model for Improvement methodology.
  • Stewards VON products, services and resources for the purpose of applying Potentially Better Practices.
  • Supports partner NICUs through development of a set of best practices and clinical guidelines to ensure safe and effective treatment for patients.
  • Assists partner NICUs in obtaining and/or maintaining their desired level of designation.
  • Travels to DHS and partner NICUs as needed to achieve program goals.
  • Hosts regular South Texas Perinatal Alliance meetings.
  • Represents DHS Perinatal Care in local, regional and national forums as appropriate.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s preferred.
  • Current license State of Texas (if appropriate)
  • 5 years related experience in area of expertise preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills in hospital related activities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.

  • Licensed in State of Texas as an RN
  • RN-NIC Certified
