Your role

The Sourcing & Category Expert is responsible for the Source-to-Contract processes and must ensure that the process always runs seamlessly for sourcing projects in the assigned category. Responsible for developing the sourcing execution approach. Ensure accomplishment of the source to contract goals by defining needs, researching the market, running sourcing events, vetting suppliers, and negotiating contracts. Accountable for sourcing execution across assigned spend categories globally. Responsible to manage critical and strategic contracts. Responsible to develop and execute bank wide vendor strategies for assigned critical and strategic vendors.

Your responsibilities

Category Management and Expertise

  • Identify business needs, category specifications and requirements for portfolio of designated vendors as input vendor plans. Provide strategic advice as input for the category manager's category plans based on developments within the portfolio of designated vendors.
  • Leverage on expertise to successfully lead negotiations with designated vendors.

Sourcing Management

  • For assigned vendors, identify global and local business needs, specifications and requirements as input for sourcing projects and ongoing management of vendor relationships. Responsible for developing the sourcing event and the management of the RFX process. Prepare sourcing documentation and train suppliers, design and issue the RFX and consolidate RFX responses. Conduct contract negotiations with suppliers. Agree and document terms and conditions and finalize the approved contract.
  • Manage contract approvals and start onboarding process and content creation. Send the contract to the supplier and retrieve signatures from both parties. Provide input for the Back Office team with performing KYS checks and onboarding suppliers.
  • Support the Procurement Operations team with approving and reviewing vendor master data for assigned vendors. Provide all information to operational tools during the supplier onboarding process and support contract management with supplier phase-out.
  • Create and execute vendor plan including clear objectives to maximize value add of the supplier relationship by having regular meetings with vendors.
  • Provide input for the Leadership team with evaluating available supplier innovations and strategies. Function as a senior sourcing SME (subject matter expert) and possess deep knowledge for assigned vendors to execute complex sourcing initiatives.
  • Providing support to the category managers for business partnering activities, such as establishing stakeholder relationships, managing strategic initiatives, managing business innovations and assessing optimisation opportunities.
  • Support category managers with identifying suppliers in scope during supplier segmentations. Support category management with negotiations, selecting preferred suppliers and establishing buying channels within assigned category.
  • Drive contract and third-party risk compliance.

Vendor Management (TIER 1 suppliers)

  • Perform negotiations for designated suppliers and contracts in case of major scope changes, renewals. Maintain deep knowledge of commercial/contractual developments. Collect performance measurements and data. Conduct supplier dialogues.
  • Perform product and service quality assessments. Verify the quality of products and services against contractual terms and conditions.
  • Drive contract and third-party risk compliance.

Project Management

  • Execute complex sourcing initiatives and projects, communicate and advise senior stakeholders and manage global projects.

Strategic Challenges

Manage sourcing projects in the context of a multi-disciplinary stakeholder landscape consisting of Business Contract Owner(s), multiple support functions, and Supplier by finding the optimal balance between value add, flexibility, and third-party risk management. Negotiate with monopolistic/oligopolistic software vendors with limited competitive alternatives. Create negotiations leverage in vendor-driven pricing and contract terms, bundled and rigid licensing models with to avoiding vendor lock-in and increase flexibility over time.

Furthermore, you have:

  • 3-6 years in Procurement area, preferably at a strategic level in an international financial services provider organisation.
  • 3+ years cross country negotiations for group wide TIER 1 vendors such as Microsoft, Broadcom, SAP, hyperscalers.
  • Deep understanding of software market trends, dynamics and competitive landscapes. Ability to gather and interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies, defining opportunities for growth and optimize category strategies. Thorough understanding of all licence models across Enterprise TIER1 vendors as Microsoft, Broadcom, Oracle, IBM, hyperscalers is a must, other vendors FIS, core-banking, investment baking applications, or another TIER1 vendors is preferred.
  • Experience working with offshore teams.
