Job Summary:

The Solution Architect is responsible for aligning technology solutions with strategic business goals, focusing on the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. This role leads the design, integration, and implementation of AMI-related systems and collaborate with IT leadership and cross functional teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and interoperable AMI systems that support the utility’s digital transformation and grid modernization goals.

Job Description:

  • Defines integration standards and technology platforms to support efficient Meter-to-Cash processes, ensuring cohesive architecture across AMI, CIS, MDM, OMS, GIS, and other enterprise systems in alignment with LUMA IT standards and policies.

  • Drives data and analytics efforts across IT and OT systems to support business insights and consistent data governance.

  • Implements utility-specific designs and requirements into production using industry best practices and regulatory standards, ensuring solutions are production-ready and aligned with LUMA’s architectural and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, NERC CIP).

  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration by gathering, refining, and documenting business and technical requirements that align with strategic roadmaps, Meter-to-Cash capabilities, and operational goals.

  • Monitors compliance, process effectiveness, and risk management across project lifecycles, enforcing issue identification, troubleshooting, escalation, and continuous improvement processes.

  • Conducts reviews of the approved design and architecture, assesses associated risks, and provides timely updates to leadership and stakeholders to maintain alignment and transparency

  • Oversee architecture, development, testing, and deployment of AMI systems, and integrations, approving design and test documentation to validate solution readiness, quality, and compliance.

  • Reviews testing plans and suggests new technologies to improve solution quality and prepare for future needs.

  • Supports vendor selection and solution evaluation by developing and reviewing architecture documentation, including blueprints, integration diagrams, and data flow models, to ensure alignment with technical standards.

  • Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.

  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.

  • Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Additional Job Description:

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area from an accredited college or university.

  • 5 years of IT experience in a similar functional, ideally in complex, regulated environments (e.g., utilities, telecom, financial services, or healthcare).

  • Proven experience designing and integrating enterprise systems using Java EE, Oracle SOA Suite 12.x (Orchestration, Mediation, BPEL), IBM MQ, relational databases or equivalent technologies.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native tools and platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, Azure Frameworks, Data Bricks, and Delta Lakes.

  • Experience with AMI technologies (ISM Band base Mesh Networks, Point to Multipoint licensed spectrum radio technologies, Private LTE) and utility platforms (e.g., CIS, MDM, OMS, GIS) is preferred.

  • Project management experience in cross-functional, multi-vendor environments.

  • Experience with IT infrastructure (Virtual Servers, VMWare) and communications/connectivity infrastructure (VPN, APN, VLANs) is preferred.

  • Experience with GIS technologies, Hexagon, ESRI is preferred.

  • Experience with leading or interfacing with Run Operations groups for operational systems is preferred.

  • Experience with CC&B is preferred.
