Position: Developer, AZ/NV (full-time) 

Department:Development, West Region, AZ/NV Market 

Reports To:Sr. Development Manager, AZ & NV 

 

AES Clean Energy is currently seeking a Developer for its renewable energy projects in AZ and NV. 

 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

•  Lead project management activities for multiple development stage solar and solar + storage energy projects 

• Coordinate with the internal Land, Permitting, Engineering and Interconnection teams as well as outside consultants on an as needed basis to ensure that projects are meeting development milestones, development risks are being mitigated, and project returns are maximized 

 Work closely with the Origination and Commercial teams to prepare RFP responses and other off-taker outreach 

 Initiate and/or support relationships with local jurisdictions to ensure projects are obtaining all possible incentives and have good standing within the local communities 

 Maintain internal development asset database with project inputs  

 Compile, input, and maintain updated financial model data for RFP responses and as required for the development pipeline 

 Assist in acquisition of development assets and/or platforms on an as-needed basis 

• Support the Land, Permitting, Engineering and Interconnection teams on an as needed basis with research, analysis and in-person meetings or phone calls 

• Research emerging renewable energy markets and support identification of new development prospects Travel (≤30%) to locations throughout Arizona to support community meetings, project public hearings, project site visits, tours, conferences, etc. 

 
 
Desired Skills and Expertise: 

 Organizational, technical, communication, management, decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills 

 4-8 years’ experience working in the power industry (or related industries such as environmental, construction, and/or regulatory); 2-4 years’ experience with renewable development activities such as interconnection applications, permitting, and/or site selection with preference for experience in AZ or NV  

 Fundamental understanding of and ability to assess general economic impact of project related business decisions, and general understanding of how a financial model works 

• Able to demonstrate experience dealing successfully with peers, subordinates, management, and unaffiliated third parties 

 Ability to think creatively about solutions to project issues 

 Comfortable in a dynamic work environment and industry  

 Excellent communication and organizational skills 

• Passion for renewable energy industry 

 
 

Education: 

• BS/BA degree required with concentration in engineering, environmental, energy, planning, business, finance or economics

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $105,000 and $131,325/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave). If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
