Software Senior Engineer

What you’ll achieve 

As a Software Senior Engineer in the PowerMax team, you will be responsible for helping to deliver the latest generation PowerMax, the industry leading enterprise storage system. You will work with front end driver team on the latest high speed networking 

 

You will: 

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of FibreChannel and Ethernet datapaths 

  • Prepare written software/storage specifications, review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation, as needed 

  • Develop, test, review and integrate code for new or existing software of significant complexity 

  • Take charge of and resolve customer escalations, perform root cause analysis as required

Essential Requirements  

  • Expert knowledge of C; operating systems including Linux; firmware; BIOS; device drivers;; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilities;  Understand tradeoffs between hardware and software interactions; interrupt handlers; user & kernel mode memory management 

  • Experience with high performance networking protocols especially as Fibre Channel, Ethernet and Infiniband 

  • Software configuration management systems such as GIT, CVS, SVN, JIRA 

  • Able to code/debug more complex programs using either written or verbal design specifications  

  • Able to understand and follow software lifecycle methods, especially Waterfall & SCRUM 

  • Able to learn new operating systems with training and on-the-job experience 

 

Desirable Requirements  

  • Understand Real Time programming 

  • Understanding of FibreChannel or Ethernet, TCP/IP 

  • Experience developing Linux device driver and or kernel mode development, or low-level embedded MCUs
