Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated intern to join the USOPS GCMS team to support next‑generation SmartLab and GCMS workflow automation. This internship is ideal for someone interested in AI‑assisted tools, data engineering, lab operations, and applied production automation. You will work closely with GCMS owners, manufacturing design engineers and SmartLab developers to design, build, and validate software solutions that improve data quality, reduce manual workload, and enable future AI capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, with hands‑on experience in Python (or C++, C#) and SQL.

  • Experience with AI, agent frameworks, and data‑driven tools, including the ability to build backend infrastructure, fine‑tune language models, analyze large datasets, and implement practical AI‑powered workflows.

  • Ability to learn and operate across multiple domains, including computer science, data science, AI, chemistry and material science.

  • Quick learner with strong collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2–3 years completed in a four‑year Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Ability to work onsite five days per week at our Milpitas, CA headquarters
