As a Software Engineering Manager within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Jacksonville FL, Miamisburg OH, Pittsburgh PA or Dallas TX.

You will lead engineering teams within the Retail Lending Core Servicing space. This role is ideal for a hands on technical leader who can balance people leadership, delivery accountability, and technical excellence while driving modernization and innovation across mission critical lending platforms.
The manager will oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable, resilient solutions that support core servicing capabilities, working closely with product, architecture, operations, and business partners. In addition to managing teams and delivery, this leader will play a key role in strategic planning, budgeting, hiring, and driving DevOps maturity.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Leadership
• Lead and mentor software engineers across multiple teams, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight for solutions built using Angular, .NET (C#), and modern service based architectures
• Ensure strong engineering practices including code quality, test automation, security, performance, and operational resilience
• Partner with architects and platform teams to modernize legacy systems and reduce technical debt in core servicing platforms
DevOps & Platform Enablement
• Champion DevOps principles and continuous delivery practices across teams
• Ensure effective use and evolution of:
o CI/CD pipelines
o GitHub and GitHub Copilot
o Jenkins
o Bitbucket
o OpenShift (containerized workloads)
• Drive automation across build, test, deployment, and operational monitoring
• Promote production readiness, observability, and incident prevention as first class engineering concerns
Delivery, Planning & Execution
• Own delivery outcomes for assigned initiatives, ensuring commitments are met with high quality
• Manage project planning, execution, and dependency coordination across multiple initiatives
• Partner with Product and Business stakeholders to translate business needs into executable technical plans
• Proactively manage risks, issues, and trade offs across scope, schedule, and quality
Financial & Resource Management
• Manage budgets, vendor spend, and resource allocation for engineering initiatives
• Support workforce planning, capacity management, and prioritization
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management of engineering talent
People Leadership & Talent Development
• Build, develop, and retain high performing engineering teams
• Conduct regular coaching, feedback, and career development conversations
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment that encourages innovation and ownership
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
• Bring forward new ideas, tools, and approaches to improve developer productivity, system reliability, and customer outcomes
• Identify opportunities to simplify platforms, modernize workflows, and improve time to market
• Actively contribute to broader organizational technology and engineering strategy
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Strong technical background with hands on experience in:
o .NET / C#
o Angular
o API based and service oriented architectures
• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a complex, regulated environment
• Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern SDLC practices
• Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Bitbucket, and OpenShift
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, priorities, and stakeholders
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and business audiences
Preferred / Nice to Have Qualifications
• Experience in banking, financial services, or lending platforms
• Familiarity with retail lending or core servicing domains
• Experience driving modernization of legacy or monolithic systems
• Exposure to cloud native patterns, container platforms, and platform engineering
• Prior experience managing budgets and vendor relationships

Job Description
- Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.
- Oversees multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.
- Monitors and maintains adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis.

Pay Transparency
Base Salary: $65,000.00 – $171,925.00
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
