As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be responsible to develop services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions' engineering teams as well as deliver solutions to our customers.
You will be working on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for automation, deployment processes and enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions’ Video & Services organization.
Basic Requirements:
Responsibilities will include:
Aid the team in design, and development of custom software solutions utilizing the Elastic Stack and Kubernetes on Azure.
Operation of an Elasticsearch cluster, Prometheus cluster used by our services
Working with fellow developers with automation tools and services to minimize delivery time and increase developer productivity.
On-call work is required for services developed by the team
Qualifications:
Must have:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 3+ years of professional experience respectively
Proven experience with Elastic, Prometheus, and other observability tools
Strong conceptual understanding of Kubernetes, Linux and docker fundamentals
Proven track record of working with cloud native or enterprise grade monitoring systems (New Relic, Data dog, Dynatrace etc.)
Strong understanding of cloud systems architecture and infrastructure
Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, OpenShift)
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Expertise in building high scale systems
Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn
Good to have:
Knowledge of security best practices
Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning
Good understanding of CI/CD frameworks
Certification in relevant observability tools
Certification in Kubernetes is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
A background in Linux/Unix Administration
Prior experience being on-call for services developed by the team
Demonstrated experience developing and deploying services on Microsoft Azure
Primary Skills:
Observability Tools (ELK Stack, Prometheus)
Server Side Language - Java Preferred
