Northrop Grumman, Defense Systems, is seeking a software engineer to work on the Whisper programs in Stafford, Virginia.  The Whisper program is a large Antenna based Rf Transmission and receiving network Platform. We use command and control software to remotely control multiple systems worldwide.   Rf Signal equipment and RF microwave engineer to provide our customer with 24 x 7 communication capabilities. 

Responsibilities : 

Perform software development and maintenance using Java, C and scripting languages in Linux and Windows environments. 

Assist with all or part of the following: requirements analysis, application design, code development, testing, code maintenance, software install and documentation.

Occasional travel CONUS/OCONUS may be required. (Less than 5%) The candidate will work as part of a mixed team of Government and contractor personnel.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's + 9 years of exp; Master's + 7 years of exp; PhD + 4 years of exp
  • Programming experience developing or maintaining software in Java, C or scripting languages such as bash, python or Csh.
  • Experience working with Windows environment
  • Experience  working in a RHEL environment
  • TS/SCI clearance and willing to obtain a CI polygraph
  • Information Assurance Technical Workforce (IAT) level II or higher (i.e. Security +)
  • Compliance/Vulnerability Monitoring with tools such as Nessus, HBSS and ACAS

Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS. (Less than 5%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following technologies: Java Swing; multi-threaded and distributed Java applications; Java Web application (e.g., Tomcat) servers or Java Applications servers (e.g. JBoss and/or Wildfly are highly desired); relational databases (JDBC, SQL, and MySQL); JEE (Java Enterprise Edition) experience (JDBC, JNI, JNDI, JMS, Servlet/JSP, EJB/JPA); Web service experience (e.g., RESTFul Web services)
  • Knowledge of the following: Hycu backup/recovery software or other backup/recovery software; Nutanix virtual environment, or other platforms such as VMWare; Elastic Search Stack (ELK);
  • Web (Brower based) GUI front end development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Angular)
  • Experience with hardening Linux OS and applications to required configurations (e.g. DISA STIGs)
  • Configuration Management experience working with software version control tools (Jira’s Bamboo, Stash, GIT, Subversion)
  • Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Linux and / or Windows system administration experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
