What You Will Do

If you are a Software Engineer with a passion for Backend Development, DevOps, and Machine Learning, act now to apply for this role as part of the Trimble Field Systems Cloud Software development group. You will be a key member of the team responsible for designing and delivering significant cloud-based services.

As a Software Developer in the New Zealand Field Systems team, you will be responsible for innovating with and delivering solutions in Trimble’s Reality Capture group. This role is highly impactful: you will design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable APIs to process and deliver data, and utilise your big data and ML experience to modernise our software by bringing solutions into the cloud.

Your role will be a mix of development, research, architecture, testing, and maintenance of services and their pipelines and infrastructure. Your key area of focus will be around the services responsible for the analysis and manipulation of complex geospatial data, including point clouds and surface scans.

As part of a dynamic team embracing Agile methodologies, you will be able to react quickly to changing requirements while working within the organisation to ensure success for our long-term strategies.

Daily, this will have you doing the following:

  • Work with adjacent teams to build and manage Geospatial Data APIs and Databases for Features, Surfaces, and Point Clouds

  • Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure for both ML systems and general cloud applications

  • Support various products in transitioning complex workloads into the Cloud

  • Translate existing ML algorithms such that they can run in parallel on Apache Spark in the Cloud

  • Organise and govern large geospatial data sets using technology such as Delta Lake

  • Develop new research ideas and opportunities for pursuit by this team or others

  • Contribute strong coding skills, developing high-quality reusable code and providing effective code reviews, ensuring best practices are followed

  • Work with testers, domain experts & support staff

  • Maintain source code, documentation and other work assets.

 

What you'll bring?

Along with being a motivated team player, with strong analytical and decision-making skills, excellent work prioritisation skills, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), you will also possess:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or relevant experience

  • Demonstrable professional as a Software Developer in a production environment using C#.NET and Python

  • Demonstrable professional experience in DevOps and Cloud development

  • Experience in Machine Learning, or AI development

  • Experience in scalable Big Data approaches and relevant frameworks such as Spark

  • Commitment to quality: writing testable, and tested code, contributing to code reviews and retrospectives

  • Enjoy working in a team-based environment, as well as being self-motivated to succeed

  • Preferred:

    • Domain knowledge and experience in the management of Geospatial data, especially surfaces and Point Clouds.
