Software Engineer

Adelaide - 21 Third Avenue Full time

The role

As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Software Engineer will contribute to the development and maintenance of software across the full software development lifecycle. They will support senior engineers in specifying, designing, implementing, integrating, testing and deploying software, while taking ownership of components and ensuring compliance to processes and system requirements.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Gather and analyse software requirements from system specifications and stakeholders.
  • Develop software requirements specification documentation
  • Develop and maintain clean code to meet requirements and design. Build, test and document software units.
  • Participate in software code reviews and provide feedback to ensure implementations are in accordance with requirements and design

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree) in a relevant discipline- Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferably within the defence industry.
  • 4 years’ experience in the field of Software Engineering.
  • Good knowledge of contemporary software development standards, principles and best practices. Broad understanding of technology and technology trends.
  • Familiarity with the development of complex software systems.
  • Proficiency in using software engineering tools and development environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to clearly convey technical information in both written and verbal forms.


As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
