About the Job:
The Red Hat UXE Engineering team is looking for an AI Engineer to join us in Pune India. We are looking for a passionate and versatile Engineer who has hands-on experience across Search technologies, API development, AI/ML implementation, Data workflows, and testing. This role requires someone who can collaborate across teams, understand end-to-end system behaviour, and contribute to building reliable, scalable, and intelligent features.
You will play a key role in a cross-functional project, adding value across multiple domains—engineering high-quality APIs, improving search relevance, supporting AI/ML feature development, working with data pipelines, and ensuring the reliability and quality of these systems.
What you will do?
Implement and optimize search features using modern search engines (e.g., Solr)
Work on indexing strategies, relevance tuning, and query performance improvements
Collaborate with product and data teams to improve search quality and user experience
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs
Ensure APIs are scalable, secure, and well-documented
Integrate APIs with internal systems, data pipelines, and external services
Support ML engineers in integrating AI models into production workflows
Build application logic, wrappers, or microservices to expose model outputs
Work on evaluation, observability, and testing of AI-powered features
Work with structured and unstructured data for features like search, analytics, and AI pipelines
Build/modify data ingestion, transformation, and validation logic
Ensure data quality, consistency, and availability across services
Write automated tests for APIs, search pipelines, and AI/ML integrations
Perform functional, regression, and performance testing across services
Maintain high standards of reliability and coverage
What you will bring?
3–6 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Full Stack Engineer
Strong understanding of search concepts (indexing, ranking, retrieval, relevance)
Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, and backend frameworks (Node.js, Java, Python, or similar)
Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model integration, or LLM-powered applications
Strong foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and databases (SQL/NoSQL)
Experience with data pipelines or event-driven systems is a plus
Hands-on experience in testing frameworks (unit, functional, integration)
Excellent observation skills with a strong attention to detail
Self-motivated with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively within a team
Eagerness to learn new technologies and apply problem-solving skills
Decision-making skills on day-to-day development
Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is an advantage
