Red Hat

Software Engineer – OpenShift on OpenStack

Raanana Full time
Job Summary
The Red Hat OpenStack engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer with a Quality Engineering orientation to join us in Ra'anana.
In this role, you will occupy a unique hybrid position, combining software development and quality engineering to support the Red Hat OpenShift on OpenStack product (“Shift On Stack”). You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the product, from feature development and defect fixing to designing automation frameworks and ensuring continuous delivery. You will work as part of a dynamic team that offers Red Hat’s customers a seamless solution to provision Red Hat OpenShift clusters on top of a Red Hat OpenStack Platform deployment.
As a software engineer, you will participate as a member of a geographically distributed team. You'll need a passion for modern open-source development, an interest in containerization/virtualization, and a desire to bridge the gap between building features and ensuring they meet the highest standards of reliability through cutting-edge automation.
What you will do
  • Act as a contributor to various components of Shift On Stack (from
OpenShift installer pieces to provisioning Operators), while simultaneously leading the quality strategy for those features.
  • Design, build, and maintain robust automated testing pipelines and frameworks to cover new features and complex integrations between OpenShift and OpenStack.
  • Guard against regressions by implementing advanced CI/CD patterns and ensuring that quality is "shifted left" in the development process.
  • Work with cross-functional Red Hat OpenShift teams to shepherd code changes through their processes, ensuring all contributions meet rigorous automated testing requirements.
  • Contribute to the regular delivery cadence of Shift On Stack by identifying process bottlenecks and automating repetitive manual verification tasks.
What you will bring
  • Proven experience in a role that combines software development with a deep focus on Quality Engineering and test automation.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Linux environment with at least one language like Golang or Python (Golang is preferred)
  • Significant experience building automated software testing suites
(Unit, Integration, and E2E) and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • A willingness to proactively utilize AI-assisted tools (such as Cursor,
Claude Code) for code generation, test case creation, and intelligent debugging to accelerate cycles and enhance code quality.
  • Passion for open-source development and experience with cloud
    computing and container management (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
  • Experience using, developing, or administering Red Hat OpenStack Platform
and/or Red Hat OpenShift is a major plus.
  • Open to exploring emerging AI technologies to identify opportunities for
incorporating new AI capabilities into the testing and development workflow.
  • Willingness to work in a distributed team environment using multiple
    communication tools.
