About our local organization: You'll be joining our Aurora Software and Electronics/Payloads Department which has ~200 Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Systems Administrators, Database Administrators, Network Engineers, and Engineering Leaders from entry-level to the most senior chief engineers and architects to Product Owners and Scrum Masters. This engineering organization supports numerous programs across Business Units and Operating Units of the NG Space Systems Sector. About the program: This program is a large restricted group executing across both Development and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) tasks. The Software Engineering (SW) IPT focuses on the development and sustainment of several mission operational SW product lines, as well as the development of new capabilities as coordinated with their restricted SCI Customer. The SW IPT is a large team comprising of multiple subsystems, each with a specialized software focus. The primary site for this team is in Redondo Beach, CA also known as Space Park.

About the job: We are looking for an energetic and passionate software engineer to join our SW IPT as we work to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in support of our Customer’s national security mission in the areas of Ground Enterprise Modernization and Transition Discrepancy Reports (DRs). Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking either a Principal Software Engineer (Level 3) or a Sr. Principal Software Engineer (Level 4) to join our talented team. This position is located onsite in Aurora, CO.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 3 (Principal): Bachelors degree with 5 years of relative experience; Masters with 3 years of relative experience; 1 year with PhD; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Level 4 (Sr. Principal): Bachelors degree with 8 years of relative experience; Masters with 6 years of relative experience; 1 year with PhD; or an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Active Top Secret clearance required at the time of application with SCI eligibility, and the ability to obtain SCI prior to start

  • Advanced Object-Oriented programming skills

  • Proficiency with C++ programming

  • Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance at time of application

  • Experience with DevSecOps Test Automation

  • Experience with programming/scripting languages: C, C++. Java, Python, Perl

  • Strong skills in math and algorithms

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, and stakeholders

  • Previous participation on an Agile scrum team, or familiarity with the Agile process

  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo)

  • Experience developing in a Linux environment using git

  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
