Software Engineer will operate at Team level and will focus on assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications, gaining practical experience whilst working under the guidance of senior engineers. ​Will not have line management responsibilities.

Pay Range: £47,790 - £58,410

Here’s how you’ll make a difference

  • Having a good understanding of Agile software development and supporting continuous improvement of your team.

  • Writing modular, clean, testable applications using design principles and patterns.

  • Contributing to the delivery of the Lloyds Banking Group, Protection offering.

  • Contributing to how we design, build, and operate software at scale within the Bank through the wider engineering community.

  • Learning from and collaborating with your colleagues, providing and receiving constructive feedback through code reviews and design documents.

What do we need to see from applicants
We like people who come from a diverse group of backgrounds that can bring new and challenging ways of thinking to the team. As a minimum to be considered, we’ll need to see evidence of the following in your CV:

  • Experience of designing and building RESTful APIs, particularly microservices.
  • Confidence in building strongly typed applications using typescript.
  • Experience with industry standard testing libraries such as SuperTest, and PlayWright.
  • Confidence with designing, building, testing, and deploying services into a cloud environment.
  • Experience with React and NodeJS.
  • Experience collaborating with peers and senior engineers with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding of Git and how to safely manage change.
  • Knowledge and experience of agile development practices, continuous integration, and test automation (e.g. TDD, BDD)

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Experience with NestJS, Kubernetes, and Docker.

  • Experience building/maintaining CICD pipelines (Jenkins, GH Actions, etc.).

  • Familiarity with GCP.
