Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

These roles sit within Digital Engineering and report into one of the People Leaders in that space. We are looking for Software Engineers who enjoy collaborating, connecting with others, and solving problems together, while also being comfortable working independently when needed.

You will join a squad where we support one another, share knowledge openly, and commit to building digital experiences that make a real difference for our customers. You will help shape the technical direction of your squad through thoughtful engineering decisions, strong delivery habits, and a focus on sustainable outcomes.

Ko tō mahi | What you’ll do

  • Build and deliver high quality, scalable digital solutions that improve customer experiences.

  • Collaborate with your squad and stakeholders to understand needs, connect the dots, and deliver the right outcomes.

  • Write clean, well-tested code, and contribute to designs that are maintainable and resilient.

  • Participate in code reviews with a supportive mindset, sharing feedback that helps the team learn and grow together.

  • Ensure solutions align with engineering standards, security expectations, and architectural guidelines.

  • Build and maintain CI and CD pipelines and support smooth releases and reliable delivery.

  • Reduce technical debt through continuous improvement, pragmatic refactoring, and shared ownership of quality.

  • Support incident investigation and resolution with clear communication, calm judgement, and a focus on learning.

  • Mentor Associate Engineers, encourage inclusive collaboration, and help build a warm and trusting team culture.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • 4 to 7 years of experience in Java development.

  • Proven experience building microservices based architectures.

  • Strong capability in writing clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.

  • Proficiency in Java or other JVM based languages.

  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

  • Hands on experience with Spring Boot.

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and ELK.

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is advantageous.

  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment.

  • Exposure to Finacle Digital Engagement Hub DEH is an advantage.

  • A collaborative and considerate style, with the ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong ownership and follow through, with a supportive approach to helping the team succeed together.
