Description:

We are seeking a Software Engineer in Test to join us in Cluj-Napoca, Romania at our EMEA Technology Hub. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Marsh McLennan (MMC) has established its EMEA Technology Hub in Cluj, Romania, reflecting our commitment to innovation and excellence. This hub is central to our digital strategy, addressing emerging challenges and enhancing service delivery through advanced technology solutions that empower our clients and promote sustainable growth.

We will count on you to

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications in the MEAN/MERN stack (UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end tests).
  • Build, improve, and extend test automation frameworks and libraries for JavaScript/TypeScript-based front-end and back-end services.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests for C#/.NET and SharePoint/Power Platform components and integrations where required.
  • Spend the majority of your time writing code (tests, tools, utilities) rather than coordinating or managing testing activities.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Investigate test failures, diagnose flaky tests, and drive issues to resolution in collaboration with developers.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product owners to define test strategies and ensure adequate automated coverage for new and existing features.
  • Translate requirements and user stories into clear, maintainable test cases and automation scenarios.
  • Perform targeted exploratory testing when necessary to uncover edge cases and high-risk defects.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to improve code quality and testability.
  • Document test frameworks, utilities, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.
  • The work is 100% hands on/implementation

What you need to have

  • Excellent communication both in English and Romanian.
  • Typically 3-6 years of experience as an SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript for both front-end and back-end test automation (e.g., Node.js-based tools and frameworks).
  • Hands-on experience testing applications built on MEAN or MERN (e.g., Angular/React, Node.js, Express, MongoDB).
  • Experience with UI test automation using tools such as Cypress, Playwright.
  • Experience with API test automation tools such as Postman (with Newman), SuperTest, REST Assured (via C# or Java), Karate, or similar.
  • Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Jasmine, NUnit/xUnit for C#, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of C#/.NET and willingness to contribute to automation and test tooling in that ecosystem when required.
  • Understanding of or exposure to testing in SharePoint/Power Platform solutions (e.g., SPFx components, Power Apps, Power Automate flows) or strong willingness to learn.
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, test design techniques, and the SDLC.
  • Experience with functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing in an agile environment.
  • Practical experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.).
  • Comfortable with Git and modern development workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Azure and/or other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) for deploying and testing web applications.
  • Experience in testing or building solutions on Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, and Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with TDD/BDD practices and tools (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow, Behave, JBehave).
  • Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
  • Basic knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6) and/or security testing concepts.
  • Experience using test coverage tools and quality metrics to drive improvements.
