Your Role at impact.com:

As a Software Engineer on the Product Data Systems (PDS) team, you’ll build and scale the systems that move and interpret product data across the partnership ecosystem.

Advertisers provide massive product catalogues. Publishers rely on our platform to identify which products to promote and which advertisers offer the best opportunities. Your work will power the infrastructure that makes this possible.

A key part of the role involves building intelligent systems that recognise when products from different advertisers are effectively the same item, enabling publishers to compare offers and optimise their content and revenue.

You’ll also bring an AI-forward mindset to engineering. Modern development increasingly involves tools such as GitHub Copilot, LLMs, and automated classification systems. We’re looking for engineers who naturally incorporate these technologies to move faster, explore ideas more quickly, and tackle difficult data problems.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and maintain Java services that process millions of product records every day.
  • Develop systems that recognise similar products across different advertiser catalogues using a mix of algorithms, heuristics, and AI-assisted classification.
  • Use modern AI tooling to accelerate development, from prototyping ideas and generating tests to debugging complex data flows.
  • Build features that analyse aggregated sales signals such as commission rates, product performance, and purchase frequency to help publishers make better decisions.
  • Share best practices, mentor teammates, and help the team safely integrate modern development tools into production workflows.
  • From design and development through to testing, deployment, and production support, you’ll help ensure the reliability of the PDS platform.
  • Work closely with product managers and partner teams to translate complex technical challenges into solutions that improve the publisher experience.

What You Bring:

  • You have deep experience building services in Java and designing maintainable systems.
  • You’ve built systems that operate at scale and are comfortable working with cloud infrastructure.
  • You actively use tools like GitHub Copilot, LLMs, or other AI-assisted workflows to increase development velocity.
  • You’re comfortable working with large datasets and complex queries, and understand the data structures required to build matching and mapping systems.
  • You know when to adopt new technologies and when to prioritise stability and reliability.
  • You enjoy sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and contributing to stronger team practices.
  • An interest in how affiliate marketing works and how product data directly influences publisher revenue is a strong advantage.

Why Engineers Enjoy Working Here:

  • Build systems that operate at significant scale
  • Solve complex real-world data problems
  • Work with modern technologies and development tooling
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers across a global platform
  • See your work directly influence revenue for publishers and brands
