Software Engineer II

C.H Robinson is seeking a Software Engineer II on our Shipment Visibility team where you will collaborate with the engineering product managers and other software engineers on strategic initiatives designing, coding, and testing industry-leading solutions that delight our customers. You evaluate requirements, estimate tasks, manage risks, and implement software that meets performance, quality, business and security objectives. You will contribute to our engineering excellence by writing code, driving quality, and collaborating with other engineers to continuously improve our process and culture. This position is open to candidates located only in Minneapolis, Chicago, or Kansas City.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using C# .NET for backend services and React for frontend components. 
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to implement new features and improve existing functionality. 
  • Ensure code quality, performance, and security through best practices, including code reviews and automated testing. 
  • Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and integrations with third-party services. 
  • Optimize database interactions using MongoDB or other NoSQL databases. 
  • Enhancements to Elasticsearch implementation for efficient indexing and search capabilities. 
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications, addressing performance bottlenecks and technical issues. 

Requirements: 

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience. 
  • 4+ years of experience in C# .NET Core / .NET 6+ and React (Hooks, Redux, TypeScript preferred). 
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
  • Experience building cloud native applications and services (ex. Azure, AWS, GCP) 
  • Solid understanding of NoSQL databases like MongoDB and relational databases like SQL Server
  • Knowledge of front-end development best practices, including state management, component-based architecture, and responsive design. 
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization using Docker/Kubernetes
  • Experience designing and developing mission-critical systems with high reliability and scalability. 
  • Experience using AI‑assisted development tools (ex. Co-pilot, Claude) to accelerate engineering velocity, code quality, and developer productivity. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Elasticsearch for indexing and search functionality. 
  • Experience building AI agents that interact with APIs, data sources, or operational workflows. 
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth, JWT, or OpenID Connect
  • Exposure to message queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka

Compensation Range

$77,000.00 - $173,600.00

The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by work location, which takes into account geographic cost of labor, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base pay only and do not include additional variable compensation.
