Software Engineer II, Platform Infrastructure - Build Services

The Auth0 platform secures more than 100 million logins each day for customers all around the world - and we're growing fast! The Platform Infrastructure teams enable Auth0 engineers to move faster by giving them tools to easily build, deploy and manage their services on AWS and Azure. This is a role with a huge impact. You will get to work with engineers throughout the organization and what you build will be a foundational piece of the infrastructure that allows Auth0 to scale for years to come.

The Platform Build Services team is responsible for designing and developing the entire Continuous Integration (CI) system. Our primary output is the set of modular, standardized build stages and services that define how all code is tested, packaged, and secured. As a Software Engineer II, you will implement, maintain, and support key components for modular Unified Build Stages and Services, contributing to reliable and performant developer workflows.

You will:

  • Implement and maintain features for major components of the CI and Artifact Management platform, following established architectural patterns.
  • Investigate and resolve operational issues and bugs. Proactively seek guidance on advanced systems and complex distributed failures, focusing on developing system mastery and demonstrating proactive self-unblocking.
  • Tackle well-defined build performance and scaling bottlenecks and deliver solutions under guidance.
  • Implement complex, reusable Unified Build Stages and Services for critical functions, including security scanning, automated testing orchestration, and standardized packaging/versioning.
  • Collaborate with Product, Platform, Security, and Quality Engineering teams to gather requirements and ensure integration into the modular stages.
  • Participate in automation, maintenance and administration of the centralized containers, libraries, and tooling components registry, monitoring secure artifact sourcing, cross-environment promotion, and compliance with lifecycle policies.
  • Maintain the operational health of the entire CI system, including high availability and scaling optimizations of the Build Infrastructure (build agents, source control integration, etc.).
  • Execute tasks related to cost optimization efforts across both the build compute systems and the artifact management storage.
  • Support the implementation of robust security scanning, vulnerability remediation, and guardrail integrations into both the CI process and artifact handling.
  • Learn and evaluate new technologies and approaches to enhance the build and artifact platforms.
  • Contribute to technical excellence by following engineering best practices and participating in code and design reviews.
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation when production incidents require build support.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have 2-3 years of experience in software development, with some exposure to platform or infrastructure roles focused on developing CI/Build Systems and Artifact/Package Management.
  • Possess a working knowledge of CI system concepts with an ability to implement and maintain modular build stages and centralized artifact registry solutions.
  • Have proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Golang, Python) for tooling development.
  • Have a working understanding of Kubernetes and containerization principles relevant to build execution.
  • Tend to deliver work incrementally to get feedback and iterate over solutions.
  • Have a relentless passion for ownership, accountability, and diving into complexity to deliver highly reliable and performant systems..
