Red Hat Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Fabric Notifications team, part of Red Hat’s Hybrid Cloud Platform organization. The Fabric Notifications team develops and manages foundational Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) services, including Platform Notification capabilities (including integrations with Email, Slack, MS Teams, and Service Now), customer data uploads at scale, and other mission-critical application integrations across Red Hat's Hybrid Cloud ecosystem.
As a member of the Fabric Notifications team, you will play a key role in defining how users, services, and systems securely interact at scale within Red Hat's hybrid cloud. This exciting opportunity involves designing and delivering highly available distributed systems that ensure seamless and scalable backend services. You will contribute to core platform services like Notifications, Ingress services, as well as Export and Scheduling services. You will collaborate with engineers across Red Hat to deliver a secure, unified Hybrid Cloud experience.
Design, implement, and maintain core Fabric Notification’s services, including APIs for Ingress, Storage Broker, Notifications, Source, Scheduler, and Export services.
Build scalable and reliable backend systems that enhance the Hybrid Cloud platform across OpenShift clusters and hybrid cloud environments.
Collaborate with platform and product teams to integrate Notifications, Scheduler and Export APIs into their services and workflows.
Contribute to architectural initiatives, such as Openshift multi-cluster support and OIDC authorization.
Improve observability, reliability, and performance of services through metrics, alerting, and automated testing.
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and cross-team collaboration to drive consistent access patterns across Red Hat platforms.
Continuously improve developer experience, service resilience, and operational excellence for access-related systems.
Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, or Gemini) for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.
3+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong programming skills in Java or Go (preferred), or Python, with an emphasis on backend systems and APIs.
Understanding of microservice architectures, REST APIs, and event-driven design.
Experience with observability and CI/CD systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Jenkins, Tekton, etc.).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills across diverse engineering teams.
Proficiency in written and spoken English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a global, cross-functional environment.
The following are considered a plus
Familiarity with Object Oriented design and building scalable backend services.
Experience running a SaaS service, with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
Experience building and operating distributed systems in Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
Familiarity with Red Hat’s hybrid cloud ecosystem or enterprise-scale identity systems.
