As a Software Engineer you will be working with the T&O Strategy & Innovation team and help the team create first-level experiments and proof-of-concepts using technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a lifelong learner who enjoys building applications that integrate and leverage emerging technologies. Above all, the ideal candidate would enjoy working independently in a team while being coached and mentored by senior engineers.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with peers to develop code in line with strategic initiatives, as well as develop, troubleshoot, enhance, and document components, as per requirements and detailed design according to RBC procedures and processes.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to identify and architect solutions
  • Collaborate with other T&O and business teams to converge on the best solutions for conducting first-level experiments and proof of concepts.
  • Work in an Agile lab environment, delivering code, automation deployments, and rapid prototype demonstrations on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Create and review technical documentation, understand how the design will be used in the code development process, and facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and execute projects Collaborate with other T&O and business teams to converge on the best solutions for conducting first-level experiments and proof of concepts.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM degree with equivalent experience
  • Understanding of modern software development life cycle and CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience in Python, Java, Angular, React, Node, JavaScript, Shell scripting, or any other front-end and back-end tools.
  • Experience working with cloud-based applications, restless APIs, and micro services, including familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with technical teams, business users, and senior management
  • Preferred - Understanding of machine-learning use cases and familiarity with at least one of the following frameworks and libraries:
    • Machine Learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch, HuggingFace)
    • Natural Language Processing toolkits (AWS SageMaker, Azure Cognitive Services for Language, Google DialogFlow, NLTK, PyTorch-NLP, SpaCy, Rasa)
    • Generative AI (Transformers, Generative Adversarial Networks).

Nice-to-have

  • Passion to learn and experiment with new software development frameworks and libraries
  • Desire to create prototypes and proof of concepts in order to help assess technology value
  • Self-motivated, able to manage time and work with minimal supervision
