What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.


Required Qualifications:

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Proficient with Windows SQL Server
  • Windows server maintenance
  • Scripting tool/languages experience
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud computing skills on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • PowerShell, Perl.
  • Visual Studio.
  • Monitoring and alerting tools – Big Panda and Dynatrace.
  • Strong Web development experience – Client/Server Architecture
  • SaaS API integration experience – Understanding on data formats like JSON and XML, and understanding of protocols like HTTPS, REST, and SOAP
  • DevSecOps principles: CICD Tools: Jenkins
  • MS Office 365 Suite - Excel, Visio, Project, Word, PowerPoint.
  • ServiceNow, ITIL, SailPoint, CyberArk
  • Supply Chain: Warehouse and Operations

    Roles and responsibilities:

    • Perform application version upgrades and patches updates to keep the application on the latest version.
    • Server Maintenance activities – OS upgrades, security patches, Cert renewals.
    • Able to address database performance bottlenecks, optimizing database queries and overall system performance. 
    • Covers 24*7 support in 3 shifts to address any production issues.
    • SRT management – Open/facilitate SRT resolution by collaborating with the peripheral teams (Network, SAP, IIB, Database, Server, Third Party vendors etc.) and AIMS SMEs.
    • Coordination with the Medical distribution centers on the upgrade activities ensuring there is no operation impacts due to application maintenance activities.
    • System health check/ alert monitoring to make sure application is healthy.
    • SOX compliance activities
    • Perform the annual disaster recovery (DR) test of the application by collaborating with the Cardinal resiliency team.
    • Develop and continue refining SOPs (System operating procedures) for maintaining the application knowledge.
    • ServiceNow incident management – Respond and keep the incidents dashboard up to date and working with the end user on the application issue resolution.
