Software Engineer - App & Cloud

NN has launched digital payments bank quietly to the Google (here) & Apple Stores (here) in May 2025. Payments is a newly formed business unit within NN Bank where opportunities for growth are enormous. As a Software Engineer – App & Cloud, you will play a key role in building and supporting customer facing journeys in the Payments Banking App using modern software engineering practices. You will work closely with senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience in both mobile and backend development and operations while contributing to secure, scalable and reliable solutions.
  

What you are going to do 

You will work under the hood of our Cloud / Serverless tech stack (digital product layers) and Mobile App to implement features, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth releases. Your contributions directly impact customer experiences, from customer onboarding to making payments to online transactions, while helping maintain high standards of security, reliability and performance. You will:

  • Implement and maintain features in the NN Banking App (ReactNative) and backend services (TypeScript, AWS Serverless components)

  • Participate in code reviews and apply/learn best practices from fellow engineers

  • Investigate and resolve bugs, contributing to overall product stability

  • Assist in mobile and backend release cycles, ensuring timely and quality deployments

  • Collaborate with the team to adopt modern engineering practices such as AI-first developer workflows, DevOps, test automation, and shift-left testing

  • Gain experience in technologies like GraphQL, Kafka, and AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS)

You know how to work in an Agile environment where collaboration, feedback loops, and continuous improvements are the foundations. Additionally, you possess:

  • 2+ years of experience working as a software engineer

  • Foundational Hands-on knowledge of AWS Serverless technologies, GraphQL, TypeScript, Azure DevOps, ReactNative

  • DevOps mindset and foundational knowledge about software architectures and patterns

Expectations from you

During the first 4 sprints and beyond (each sprint is 2 weeks): o Demonstrate autonomy in developing simple-to-medium backend features and eventually frontend (gradually) – by your PR contributions.

  • Demonstrate your understanding / working with our stack – by your involvement and contribution during Sprint Refinements

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of AWS Services listed – by your participation in Sprint Refinements

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of TypeScript and Serverless – by your PR contributions

During your entire time with this Team:

  • Demonstrate Ownership of your deliverables “end-to-end” – by proactive identification of issues, proposing solutions, and following through until resolution

Who you will work with

You are going to be a part of one of the Payments Teams of awesome individuals with different backgrounds and cultures who are working together to build and maintain crucial payments digital bank use cases. You will join a cross-functional team consisting full-stack engineers, business analysts, scrum master and a product owner.

You will work closely with Product Owner (in realizing the product roadmap), and with other Payments Tech Leads (as a sparring partner in tech decisions and review). You will report to the Engineering Manager of Bank.
