Stockholm - Zenit Full time

As a Software Engineer reporting to an Engineering Manager, you'll play a critical role in maintaining and evolving Nasdaq's Clearing technology platform, supporting some of the world's largest clearing houses with mission-critical systems that operate 24/7.

You'll thrive in this position if you're driven by innovation, comfortable diving into established production systems and large legacy codebases, and bring a genuine passion for building high-quality technology solutions across a broad technology stack—including Java backend services, front-end interfaces, DevOps tooling, and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the analysis, troubleshooting, and enhancement of production systems powering critical clearing and settlement functions, ensuring system stability while making thoughtful improvements to legacy codebases.

  • Shape and improve the next-generation Clearing System through full lifecycle participation—from design and implementation to testing and deployment—delivering systems that meet the highest quality standards.

  • Collaborate in agile ceremonies and maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation to support team alignment and knowledge sharing.

  • Conduct code and design reviews with the team to continuously improve system quality, architectural decisions, and engineering best practices.

  • Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotations to ensure high availability and rapid incident resolution for mission-critical clearing services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in Java backend development.

  • Genuine interest in learning and working with existing production systems, including large legacy codebases—comfortable understanding existing architectures and making improvements while maintaining stability.

  • Self-driven with a sense of structure and creativity, able to balance innovation with operational excellence.

  • Experience working effectively in agile teams with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with tools or platforms such as Gradle, Git, GitLab, Jenkins, AWS, or Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with capital markets domains such as clearing, settlement, trading, financial instruments, or corporate actions.

  • Exposure to global teams and cultural nuances in cross-border collaboration.

This position will be located in Stockholm and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
