The Job

CNN Newsource is building a modern platform for partner newsrooms to access and publish CNN content. As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to both frontend and backend development and help build reliable, secure, and user-friendly tools for newsroom workflows.

You will work with senior engineers to deliver features, learn CNN’s internal systems, and grow your technical skills while contributing to a platform that supports global journalism.

The Daily

You will develop application features in Node.js and contribute to frontend work using React or Vue.js. You’ll collaborate with designers and product partners, write clean code, support API development, and help integrate with internal content and media systems.

You will participate in code reviews, test your work thoroughly, and learn AWS-based deployment practices. You will help investigate issues, contribute to improving reliability, and participate in taking features from prototype to production.

The Essentials

  • 2–4+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience with Node.js and modern JavaScript
  • Experience building interfaces with React or Vue.js
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and modern development practices
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and communicate clearly
  • Active use of AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Codex, Claude, etc.) to improve velocity and code quality

The Nice to Haves

  • Experience with newsroom tools, media systems, or content platforms
  • Exposure to CI/CD systems or infrastructure-as-code
  • Familiarity with AWS services or cloud-based applications
  • Experience working with video, media ingestion, or content APIs
  • Curiosity to explore new technologies and contribute to team-wide improvements

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $94,000 - $144,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation. 

On June 9, 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans to separate into two publicly traded companies, Warner Bros. and Discovery Global, with an expected completion in mid-2026.
