The Chief Operating Officer (COO) division at Autodesk is looking for a Software Architect with extensive experience in developing modern, scalable, maintainable, and secure cloud-native experiences. The COO division is responsible for building and maintaining cutting-edge experiences that reach millions of customers every month.
As a member of the COO architecture team, you will drive innovation and continually improve cloud-native experiences for both internal and external customers. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely, assuming you can accommodate North American time zones for your regular working hours.
Responsibilities
Lead technical discussions across diverse teams in a matrix setting
Mentor developers on emerging and existing technologies, as well as career development paths
Evaluate the feasibility of alternative directions in future architecture/platform development through modeling and prototyping
Ensure selected architecture achieve desired quality attributes such as security, scalability, and resilience
Influence the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud-native experiences (frontend and backend)
Design and implement high-quality code for complex areas
Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to translate business needs, system architecture, and product requirements into well-designed and implemented software
Evangelize and distribute technical information
Present to and gain insights and feedback from Autodesk management on key architectural initiatives
Contribute to both near and long-term technology roadmaps
Champion industry best practices
Serve as a subject matter expert in both established and emerging cloud-native technologies, including Material UI, React, Redux, Web Components, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and AWS-based server-side infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
10+ years of experience as a software engineer or architect, with a strong focus on cloud technologies
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively
Strong leadership skills, with experience in guiding and mentoring diverse teams
Demonstrated success in leading the architecture for commercial software systems that are globally deployed at scale
High levels of ownership and a collaborative spirit, working seamlessly to consistently deliver high-quality results
Extensive knowledge of cloud-native development tools, languages, and frameworks, along with an understanding of their appropriate applications
Working knowledge of LLMs and machine learning, with an understanding of key concepts and hands-on experience using machine learning tools in a development environment
Broad knowledge across many areas of software development and architecture with deep expertise in one or two key domains
