Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SOCIAL WORKER (TITLE 5), Position Description Number NGT59128P1 and is part of the TN 118th WING, Air National Guard. This vacancy is not eligible for membership to a labor organization.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training to perform professional social work principles and competencies, provide mental health diagnosis, treatment, research, consultation, and preventive programs for individuals, families, groups, and organizations in military communities; experience teaching, supervising, and directing clinical social work and related mental health programs. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months of specialized experience in clinical social work assignments; experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Must understand labor relations, military operations, and the Military Health System, TRICARE and VA as it pertains to the military Psychological Health Program. Experience in social work practices, principles, and theories to develop and implement comprehensive primary and secondary prevention programs. Experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in program planning with local and community agencies. Experience in applying psychological and social work methods and theory in an outpatient clinical setting and providing consultation for health care providers and military leaders. Experience in applying professional community organization skills related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and the marketing of programs.
