Social Worker - Team Manager - Safeguarding Team

Liquid Personnel is recruiting for an Adult Team Manager to join its client’s Safeguarding team, based in Durham, presenting an exciting temporary leadership opportunity to manage a Safeguarding Team within Children’s Services.

The role is suited to an experienced and confident manager who can provide effective operational oversight, uphold high standards of practice, and support social workers in delivering robust safeguarding interventions. Responsibilities include case supervision, quality assurance, and performance management to ensure statutory duties are met and children remain safeguarded.

What will your responsibilities be? 

  • Provide day-to-day management and leadership of the Safeguarding Team.
  • Oversee the quality assurance of assessments, care plans, and court reports, ensuring work meets statutory and organisational standards.
  • Deliver regular case supervision to social workers, offering guidance, challenge, and professional support.
  • Allocate work appropriately across the team, ensuring balanced caseloads and effective workflow management.
  • Chair strategy discussions and strategy meetings.
  • Chair Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings and support timely progression of cases.
  • Undertake and contribute to audits, identifying learning and driving continuous improvement.
  • Monitor performance and ensure effective decision-making in high-risk and complex cases.
  • Work collaboratively with senior managers, legal services, and multi-agency partners.

Skills and Experience Required: 

To be successful in this role you must have;  

  • Social Work England registration 
  • Eligible to work in the UK 
  • Hold a full UK driving licence 
  • Post-qualified experience 
  • Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
