Job Description:

Department Overview 

TD Direct Investing gives self-directed investors the tools, resources, education, and support needed to manage their finances. Clients can access services online, via mobile, by phone, or in person at Canadian branches. Our Client Education team develops content to enhance investor learning and build confidence across multiple formats, including social media, Direct Investing products, live shows, webinars, and more. 

 

Job Description 

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Client Education, the Social Media Manager will be responsible for executing TD Direct Investing’s social media strategy across platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, and others. 

 

TD Direct Investing launched a dedicated social presence in F24, which has grown significantly since. Our aspiration is to build the largest, most engaged, and best-educated social media community of investors in Canada in the coming years. The Social Media Manager will play a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life.  

 

Performance in the role will be measured by the ability to partner with the team to grow our social community, demonstrate business outcomes (e.g., acquisition, increased trading activity), and show how we’re helping improve investing literacy among Canadians. 

 

The candidate will collaborate with a team of creative professionals, including writers, designers, and video editors, to execute the social media strategy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Proposing content ideas in partnership with the Client Education team and independently 

  • Overseeing writers, designers, and editors to produce content 

  • Supporting community management across all social media platforms, including managing comments and direct messages (including negative ones) 

  • Publishing content on all social media platforms 

  • Leading topic and social media trend mining initiatives 

  • Maintaining a content calendar 

  • Managing reviews for social media content (e.g., CIRO reviews) 

  • Collaborating with teams outside Client Education (e.g., Product) to promote their initiatives on social channels and/or securing support from other teams (e.g., Marketing) to help achieve objectives 

 

Additionally, the Social Media Manager will be responsible for: 

  • Ensuring TD brand standards and the TD Direct Investing client experience are prioritized in all creative deliverables 

  • Maintaining knowledge of and compliance with bank and CIRO codes of conduct, as well as securities laws and regulations 

 

Job Requirements 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent 

  • Ability to work quickly, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain excellent attention to detail 

  • Self-starter who works well independently and in teams 

  • Strong interest in social media and storytelling 

  • Passion for helping Canadians become smarter investors 

  • Knowledge of financial markets and TD Direct Investing products is an asset
