Social Media Internship

Takealot Group, the largest and most customer-centric online shopping destination in Africa, is looking for a highly talented Social Media Intern  to join our team. The Internship Programme will be split between all businesses within the Group, namely: takealot.com, TFS, and Mr D.

Purpose of Role

To provide hands-on creative and operational support to the Social Media team. This role is perfect for a "digital native" who is obsessed with social media trends and knows how to capture content that stops the scroll. You will be the "boots on the ground" assisting in the creation of viral hooks and internal content that brings the Takealot brand to life.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Currently studying or recently completed a diploma/degree in:

• Marketing
• Communications
• Media Studies
• Digital Marketing
• PR or related field

Technical Skills:

• Platform Fluency: You spend your time on TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, and Facebook. You don't just use them; you get
• Mobile Content Creation: You know your way around a smartphone camera to capture high-quality raw footage.
• App Savvy: Basic to intermediate skills in CapCut, Canva, and in-app social editors.
• Trend Spotting: You notice what works vs. what flops online and can identify a viral hook before it peaks.

Personal Competencies:

• Sense of Humour & Relatability: You understand tone and how to talk to a community, not at
• Curiosity: You’re always asking "why did that go viral?"
• Agility: Ability to adapt quickly and work in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
• Proactive & Self-motivated: You don’t wait for a brief; you see a trend and suggest a shoot.
• Professional Discretion: High level of integrity when handling internal "behind-the-scenes" access.

Key Responsibilities

• Content Capture: Assisting in the "on the ground" shooting of viral hooks, office culture.
• Trend Execution: Helping turn trending audios and concepts into Takealot-relevant content.
• Operational Support: Assisting with the logistics of content shoots..
