Role: Social Media & Influencer Manager

Location:  Tokyo, Japan

About the role:

Looking to do the best work of your career?

Do it with one of the most respected global brands on social. We’re building a team across 15 markets to own our client brand’s social presence end to end: insight and ideation, platform-native creative, publishing, live ops, and community. From the first idea to the final reply, you’ll shape how client's brand shows up every day and create work that influences culture.

You’ll move at newsroom speed with rigorous craft—launching ideas that travel, partnering with standout creators, and turning comments into conversations that become cultural moments. The brief is straightforward: make the brand most culturally relevant brand on social. You’ll have the scale, purpose, and creative freedom to make it real.

This is a genuinely dual role. You'll run the day-to-day social operation — content planning, publishing, community engagement, and performance tracking — while simultaneously building and managing the creator community that brings client's brand to life in the most authentic, relatable way across platforms. Two disciplines, one joined-up function. If you thrive on variety, move fluidly between the operational and the relational, and understand instinctively how creator content and owned social amplify each other, this is the role for you.

If you're motivated by ideas that matter, sharpened by data, and committed to making the internet more positive, this is the place to do it. Bring your craft and your courage. Together we'll build culture — not just content — and do the best work of our careers.

We support flexible working and are open to different arrangements. We offer reasonable adjustments throughout the process.

You'll be one of the people who makes the brand's social presence happen, day in, day out — across two interconnected workstreams that together define how the brand shows up and who tells its story.

On the social side, you'll manage the daily rhythm of the brand's channels: content calendars, publishing, copy, community management, and performance tracking across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms. On the creator side, you'll identify, recruit, brief, and manage the influencers and content creators whose authentic voices carry Dove's values to audiences the brand couldn't reach alone.

The brand's relationship with creators is different from most beauty brands. The people who represent the brand need to genuinely reflect the diversity, honesty, and purpose the brand stands for. We're not looking for reach alone — we're looking for trust, authenticity, and real alignment with the brand's commitment to inclusive beauty and self-esteem. That takes someone with strong instincts for people, culture, and platform — and the operational precision to manage a complex, multi-workstream role without losing the detail.

Success means channels that run smoothly, content that consistently meets brand and platform standards, a community that feels genuinely listened to, a creator network that is thriving and well-managed, and performance data that reflects steady growth in reach, engagement, and brand affinity.

What you will be doing:

Content Planning and Publishing

  • Create and manage client's brand social content calendars across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms, ensuring a consistent cadence of planned, campaign, and reactive content — including creator and influencer content — within a single, integrated schedule
  • Schedule and publish content across platforms, ensuring every post meets brand guidelines, platform specifications, and accessibility standards (captions, alt text, format requirements)
  • Write and adapt social copy for each platform, ensuring the brand's tone of voice is consistent, compelling, and native to the channel
  • Coordinate with the creative team and content creators to ensure assets — owned and creator-produced — are delivered on time, correctly formatted, and ready to publish
  • Support the Senior Social Media Manager in planning always-on content, campaign activations, and seasonal or product-launch moments

Community Management and Engagement

  • Monitor the brand's social channels daily, responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, on-brand, and thoughtful manner
  • Engage proactively with client's brand audience, fostering a sense of community and connection that reflects the brand's values of inclusivity and real beauty
  • Track trending topics, hashtags, cultural moments, and platform features, flagging relevant opportunities to the wider team and, where appropriate, drafting reactive content
  • Identify opportunities to surprise and delight the brand's audience through creative engagement, timely responses, and community-building moments

Creator Identification and Recruitment

  • Identify, contact, and recruit creators on an ongoing basis, building a diverse community of influencers who authentically represent client's brand values and resonate with target audiences across platforms
  • Evaluate potential creator partners based on audience relevance, content quality, engagement authenticity, brand alignment, and representation of diverse beauty
  • Maintain and manage a structured creator database, tracking tiers, content output, performance, and relationship status

Creator Community Management

  • Develop and manage client's brand creator engagement programme, building genuine, long-term relationships with influencers rather than transactional, campaign-by-campaign partnerships
  • Manage ongoing communication and dialogue with the creator community, ensuring creators feel valued, informed, and connected to client's brand purpose
  • Create and distribute regular community communications — newsletters, updates, and exclusive content — that keep creators engaged between activations
  • Organise and support creator events, focus groups, and community moments that deepen relationships and generate insight
  • Ideate and produce creative product mailers and gifting activations that surprise and engage creators in ways that feel personal and on-brand

Campaign and Creator Activation

  • Brief and manage creators for campaign activations, always-on content, product launches, and cultural moments, ensuring deliverables are on time, on brand, and aligned with platform best practices
  • Develop creative briefs for influencer content that give creators clear direction while leaving room for authentic, platform-native expression
  • Coordinate with the creative and social teams to ensure influencer content is integrated into the broader content calendar and campaign plans
  • Track and record all creator content, ensuring proper usage rights, approvals, and compliance with advertising and disclosure regulations

Performance Tracking and Reporting

  • Track and report on social channel performance and influencer campaign performance, compiling regular reports on reach, engagement, saves, shares, audience growth, and creator programme impact
  • Use native platform analytics, social management tools, and influencer platforms to monitor content effectiveness, identify trends, and feed learnings back into briefs and strategy
  • Support the Senior Social Media Manager and Data Analyst in building a continuous learning loop between content output, creator performance, and data

Platform Expertise and Trends

  • Stay current with social platform updates, algorithm changes, new features, and emerging content formats — including creator-led formats — sharing relevant developments with the team
  • Contribute ideas for new content formats, series, engagement approaches, and creator partnership models based on platform evolution and audience behaviour
  • Ensure the studio's content and creator approach reflects the latest platform best practices for organic reach and engagement

Client Partnership and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the client's brand team on day-to-day social activity and creator programme updates, keeping stakeholders informed of what's publishing, what's performing, and what's coming next
  • Manage client feedback and approvals within both the publishing and influencer workflows, keeping the process clear and moving efficiently
  • Contribute to briefing processes, helping to translate client briefs and campaign objectives into clear direction for the creative team and creator community

What you need to be great in this role:

  • A strong background spanning social media management and influencer or creator management, ideally for consumer brands in beauty, personal care, wellness, or FMCG — with hands-on experience across both disciplines rather than one alone
  • Strong platform fluency across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging social channels, including a clear understanding of content formats, algorithms, audience behaviours, and publishing best practices
  • Experience managing social content calendars and publishing workflows across multiple platforms, including the integration of creator content within owned publishing schedules
  • Solid copywriting skills, with the ability to write platform-native social copy that reflects a brand's tone of voice and connects with diverse audiences
  • A proven track record of identifying, recruiting, briefing, and managing influencers and content creators, with experience building ongoing relationships rather than one-off activations
  • Experience developing and managing creator communities or ambassador programmes, including community communications, gifting, and events
  • An understanding of influencer contracts, usage rights, disclosure regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple creator relationships, campaigns, publishing workstreams, and competing deadlines without losing attention to detail
  • Experience using social media management tools (such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social) and influencer management platforms (such as CreatorIQ, Traackr, Grin, or similar)
  • The ability to track and report on social and influencer performance metrics, with a clear sense of what the numbers mean and how they inform decisions
  • An authentic interest in creator culture, social platforms, and inclusive representation, with experience or a strong interest in working with diverse creators who reflect a broad range of backgrounds, identities, and experiences
  • A collaborative, proactive working style with the confidence to flag opportunities, raise issues, and contribute ideas across the team
  • Professional proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus

Gen AI and Agentic Thinking:

  • Working proficiency with Gen AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copy.ai, Grammarly, Perplexity) to support copy drafting, content ideation, creator research, brief development, trend monitoring, and reporting
  • An agentic approach to your work: ability to self-organise across a busy, multi-workstream role, manage competing priorities, find efficient solutions, and take initiative without waiting to be directed
  • Willingness to experiment with AI tools as part of both the social and influencer workflow, understanding when they add genuine value and when human creativity, cultural nuance, and relationship instinct are what's needed
  • Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations, with a commitment to human judgement in relationship management, creative evaluation, and brand alignment decisions
  • Qualifications: Formal degrees are welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts. Experience can be gained through work, study, volunteering, or self-directed learning.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience working on beauty, personal care, wellness, or lifestyle brands
  • Experience in an in-house agency, embedded studio, or social-specialist environment
  • Multi-market social or influencer experience, with an understanding of adapting content and creator strategies across regions and cultures
  • Experience with influencer-led content production, including on-set coordination and creator direction
  • Experience working with creators on purpose-led or social impact campaigns
  • Familiarity with social listening tools and basic audience research
  • Experience with accessibility in social publishing (captions, alt text, inclusive content practices)
  • Familiarity with paid social amplification and how organic, creator, and paid content work together
  • Experience with social commerce, affiliate-driven influencer models, or conversion tracking
