Job Description – Technical SME (Pan‑India | Central Role)

Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Central Operations

Travel across India – As and when required
Role Purpose
The Technical SME will serve as the central technical authority for all Pan‑India sites, providing expert guidance, governance, troubleshooting, audits, and standardization of engineering operations.
The role ensures technical excellence, statutory compliance, risk mitigation, and operational consistency across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Central Technical Governance (Pan‑India)
· Act as the single point of technical expertise for all engineering disciplines across sites.
· Provide technical oversight and approvals for high‑risk or critical engineering activities.
· Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical standards, and best practices across all locations.
· Ensure uniformity in engineering operations, documentation, and reporting.
2. Engineering Operations Oversight
· Review and guide HVAC, Electrical, Fire & Life Safety, Plumbing, BMS, DG, UPS, STP/WTP, IBMS, and ELV systems operations.
· Support sites in resolving critical breakdowns, complex faults, and recurring issues.
· Conduct technical root cause analysis (RCA) for failures and recommend permanent corrective actions.
· Approve technical methodologies, shutdown plans, and risk assessments.
3. Statutory & Compliance Management
· Ensure adherence to local and statutory compliance requirements across all sites:
o Electrical Inspectorate
o Fire Department NOCs
o Pollution Control Board
o Lift Inspectorate
o DG emissions & safety compliance
· Support audits related to ISO, LEED, IGBC, ESG, safety, and energy management.
· Identify compliance gaps and drive timely closures.
4. Energy, Sustainability & Cost Optimization
· Review energy consumption, diesel usage, and water management across sites.
· Support energy efficiency initiatives, renewable integration, and sustainability programs.
· Provide technical inputs for ESG, LEED/IGBC, Zero Energy, and REC procurement activities.
· Identify opportunities for cost optimization, lifecycle improvements, and efficiency gains.
5. Technical Audits & Site Assessments
· Conduct periodic technical audits of Pan‑India sites.
· Evaluate asset health, maintenance quality, and vendor performance.
· Prepare technical audit reports, risk registers, and improvement roadmaps.
· Track and ensure closure of audit observations.
6. Vendor & Project Support
· Provide technical evaluations for CAPEX projects, RFPs, BOQs, and technical specifications.
· Support vendor selection, technical negotiations, and benchmarking.
· Review project execution, commissioning, and handover documentation.
· Act as escalation point for vendor disputes and performance issues.
7. Client & Stakeholder Support
· Act as technical escalation authority during client meetings and audits.
· Support sites during client escalations related to engineering, safety, or compliance.
· Present technical reports, proposals, and risk assessments to senior management and clients.
8. Knowledge Management & Training
· Develop and deploy technical guidelines, checklists, and manuals.
· Conduct technical training sessions, knowledge‑sharing forums, and best‑practice workshops for site teams.
· Mentor regional/site engineering managers.

Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical / engineering
· Master’s degree or additional certifications (desirable)
Experience Requirements
· 20+ years of strong hands‑on experience in:
o Facility Management / Engineering Operations
o Commercial IT Parks / Industrial / Infrastructure environments
· Proven experience handling multiple sites centrally across India
· Strong exposure to large‑scale assets and mission‑critical facilities
