Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shift; 6:30 pm - 7:00 am

 

SUMMARY:

  A sleep technologist has learned the basic skills necessary for routine sleep testing. Must be able to independently prepare patients, conduct routine PSG recording, and collect all information pertinent to the interpretation of these tests. Must provide superior customer service by modeling the Core Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Patient Care. Review patient histories; Educate and orient patients on procedure; Perform sleep studies of; maintain accountability for timely and proper service to patients; provide excellent patient service 

  • General Maintenance. Clean, restock and prepare rooms on a daily basis

  • Documentation. Assist with scoring portable monitoring recordings according to AASM scoring parameters; identify artifact, inadequate signals and study failures and generate an accurate report

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Must have Diploma or Associate’s Degree in one of the following areas:

  • Nursing

  • Polysomnography Technology OR Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy OR successful completion of a certificate program in Respiratory Therapy Technology

​Must have at least one of the following:

  • Registered Nurse license in New York State

  • NYS Authorization as a Polysomnographic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, or Respiratory Therapy Technician

  • Polysomnography Technicians: Must pass the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists exam and obtain the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential within 2 years of initial NYS registration

  • RT/RTTs: Must pass the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist examination (CRT) and the Registry Examination (RRT) and obtain credentials within 1 year of the initial NYS registration

  • Demonstrated computer skills appropriate for the position.

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
