Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an expert Site Supervisor to support its Garyville, Louisiana plant.

The Garyville facility operates a large Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) that produces hydrogen and steam for an on‑site customer and distributes hydrogen to multiple customers along the Mississippi River corridor through a pipeline distribution system.

The Garyville Plant Site Supervisor is a key member of the Louisiana East Gulf Coast Leadership Team and is responsible for ensuring that all elements of operational discipline are established, maintained, and functioning as intended.

You will have direct responsibility for the day‑to‑day operations of the facility and will report directly to the Area Manager. This role interfaces daily with the Garyville plant operations team, including operator technicians, maintenance technicians, administrative support, and other engineers and technicians located throughout the Garyville and Gulf Coast region.

You will be required to develop a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of site operations, with a strong emphasis on front‑line supervisory leadership. This role is responsible for overall facility safety, plant operational reliability, implementation of efficiency improvements, budget management, customer interface, and coordination of maintenance activities in partnership with the regional maintenance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of five Operations Technicians and develop site talent through mentor, training, and progression boards.
  • Work closely with maintenance to coordinate scheduled and unscheduled work, set maintenance priorities, plan maintenance activities, and plan the execution of site turnarounds. Ensure compliance with Preventive Maintenance programs and Mechanical Integrity programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the site’s Basic Safety Process and Process Safety Management. Investigate incidents and near misses, understand and correct the root cause of failures.
  • Ensure environmental compliance in accordance with Air Products Corporate and Government regulations.
  • Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation will include troubleshooting plant process problems, supervising daily plant activities and driving plant projects.
  • Understand safe operating, design, permit limits; actively practice alarm management.
  • Interface with customers and the Air Products commercial team.

Qualifications:

  • Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree, or related experience, is preferred.
  • 5+ years of diversified plant experience with a proven record of continued advancement.
  • Experience in HyCO plant operations and maintenance or operations of equivalent complexity.
  • Demonstrated dedication to asset management programs.
  • Self-starter with shown managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record of success in areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality and Employee Involvement.
  • Strong dedication to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
  • Ability to collaborate with customer representatives and community leaders.
