Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on dayshift. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
The Site Strategy Lead is accountable for the overall strategy, governance, and operational excellence of the GM Philippines site. This role combines local finance stewardship, tax compliance, site administration, facilities management, and workplace safety to ensure the site is safe, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with GM’s global strategy. The Site Strategy Lead partners closely with Site Leadership, HR, Finance, IT, Legal, and global stakeholders to enable a high-performing, secure, and engaging workplace.
What You’ll Do
SITE STRATEGY:
Financial Stewardship & Internal Controls (Site Level)
Serve as the site-level owner for key financial processes related to the site including financial statement preparation, tax compliance, treasury and funding requirements, budget and forecasts, accounts payable, intercompany, internal controls, payroll etc.
Review and approve payment proposals, urgent payment requests, and bank portal releases in line with policy and delegation of authority.
Coordinate with Controllership, Tax, Treasury, and FP&A on local entity requirements (e.g., permits, tax filings, dividend flows, cash management).
Ensure strong internal controls and timely resolution/escalation of financial issues related to site operations.
Support the preparation and monitoring of site budgets and identifying efficiency opportunities.
Site Strategy, Governance & Planning
Develop and maintain the site strategy and multi‑year roadmap covering facilities, security, business continuity, and employee experience.
Lead site governance routines (e.g., site steering meetings, monthly site strategy reviews, executive visit preparations) and ensure clear decision-making and follow-through.
Translate global and regional priorities into site-level initiatives, metrics, and action plans.
Prepare materials for executive visits, audits, and leadership reviews, showcasing site performance, risks, and opportunities.
Facilities, Security & Workplace Operations
Own the end-to-end facilities and physical security framework for the site, in partnership with Facilities, Corporate Security, and HSE.
Ensure the site complies with global security standards, local security procedures, and relevant policies (e.g., visitor management, access control, CCTV, asset control).
Oversee space planning, office moves, capacity management, and workplace standards, ensuring a safe, productive, and inclusive environment.
Manage vendor and service provider performance related to facilities, security, housekeeping, utilities, clinic and maintenance.
Lead incident response and escalation for facilities or security issues (e.g., building incidents, access breaches), including communication and remediation.
Compliance, Risk & Business Continuity
Ensure the site adheres to regulatory and corporate requirements, including:
Local business permits, tax returns, and statutory filings.
Data privacy and information security expectations related to site processes.
Health, safety, and environment requirements in coordination with HSE.
Maintain and periodically test business continuity and emergency response plans (e.g., evacuation, disaster recovery for facilities).
Coordinate with Internal Audit, Controllership, and Corporate Security on audits, assessments, and remediation plans affecting the site.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Act as the primary point of contact for site-related topics with:
Site Leadership and business line leaders
HR, Talent Acquisition, People Services
Global/Regional Facilities, Security, Finance, IT, and Legal
Lead or support site-wide programs and events (e.g., university fairs, employee events, executive engagements) from a site operations and risk perspective.
Develop and execute site-level communication plans for security, facilities changes, policy updates, and major initiatives.
Represent the site in regional or global forums on facilities, security, and finance topics, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
People Leadership & Ways of Working
Lead a small cross-functional team (e.g., facilities, admin, internal finance analysts, security coordinators), driving clarity of roles, coaching, and development.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement across the site support functions.
Champion process automation and digitization (e.g., SharePoint, Power Apps/Automate) to streamline site and finance workflows.
Model GM’s values and leadership behaviors, creating an environment where people feel safe to raise issues and propose improvements.
ORDER MANAGEMENT
Order Management Strategy, Governance & Performance
Own the operating model, KPIs, and service levels for the Order Management function (e.g., order accuracy, turnaround time, backlog health, on‑time confirmations).
Translate commercial and operations priorities into order management plans, targets, and routines (huddles, weekly reviews, month-end governance).
Provide regular performance reporting and insights to stakeholders, highlighting drivers, risks, and recommended actions.
Ensure the team supports month-end/quarter-end requirements for volume and revenue recognition (cut-off, backlog validation, exception clearing).
End-to-End Order Lifecycle Management
Oversee order intake, entry, and validation across systems (e.g., SAP/ERP, order tools), including checks on completeness, pricing, master data, and credit status.
Ensure robust processes for order changes and cancellations, including approvals, reason coding, and audit trail.
Lead backlog and order book management, ensuring a clean and reliable view of open orders and demand.
Oversee issue and exception handling (e.g., credit holds, blocked orders, pricing/mapping issues, consignee discrepancies), ensuring timely resolution and communication.
Partner with Logistics/Supply Chain to align promise dates, capacity constraints, and shipping updates, and to resolve delivery-related issues affecting orders.
Risk, Controls & Compliance
Ensure all order management activities follow documented SOPs, approval matrices, and internal control requirements (e.g., revenue recognition, credit policies).
Maintain strong documentation and audit trails for orders, approvals, exceptions, and changes.
Support audits and reviews (internal / external), leading remediation actions where gaps are identified.
Monitor data quality and master data issues, driving corrections and reinforcing ownership with master data teams and business owners.
People Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, coach, and develop a team of order management analysts/specialists, setting clear goals and expectations.
Provide regular feedback, mentoring, and performance reviews, fostering ownership and professional growth.
Build cross-skilling and backup within the team (e.g., across markets, order types, sub-processes) to ensure resilience.
Reinforce a culture of customer focus, accountability, and continuous improvement in daily operations.
Continuous Improvement & Digital Enablement
Use data and root-cause analysis to identify recurring issues, bottlenecks, and error patterns across the order lifecycle.
Lead or sponsor CI initiatives (e.g., Lean, automation, standardization) to reduce manual work, errors, and turnaround time.
Partner with CI/IT teams on tool and system enhancements (dashboards, trackers, workflow automations, integrations).
Promote effective use of analytics tools and collaboration platforms (e.g., Excel/Power BI, SharePoint, workflow tools, AI assistants) to elevate team productivity and insight quality.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, PMP) are an advantage.
5+ years of progressive experience in finance or shared services ideally within a multinational organization.
Experience in site/facilities operations or corporate services is preferred
Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives or managing a site/functional team.
Demonstrated exposure to:
Financial statement preparation
Internal controls, audits, or SOX/compliance
Vendor and contract management
Facilities, security, or business continuity (directly or in close partnership)
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Strong financial acumen and comfort with reviewing financial statements, payment proposals, forecasts, and budgets.
Solid understanding of risk management, internal controls, and compliance.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including executive-facing presentations.
Ability to prioritize and organize across multiple workstreams and deadlines.
Comfort working with digital tools and automation platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Apps/Automate, ERP/finance systems).
People leadership skills: coaching, feedback, conflict management, and performance management.
High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
