Site Procurement Manager - Italy

Role Overview

Global Procurement is a key component of Haleon's operating model, driving value for the company and its consumers. Our model emphasizes scale, expertise, and a business-first mindset through global category, cross-BU, and strategy & delivery teams.

Site Procurement Manager is responsible for partnering with local site teams and broader regional stakeholders to drive the Procurement strategy for the site

The role holder will be responsible for ensuring the Aprilia Site business needs and priorities are well understood and supported from Global and Regional Category Procurement teams and will manage the strategic relationship of key Site Indirects / Directs suppliers. This role will be responsible for several key financial metrics for the Site, such as Net Year over Year savings (Net YOY), Price Variance (PPV), Working Capital (Inventory + Payment Terms) and Project pipeline/delivery. The role holder will support the site teams in the operational management of activities, implementation of sourcing strategies and other global projects.  Site Procurement will also ensure that the daily needs and transactional activities are executed in accordance with policies and SOPs. Whilst the role is predominantly focused on the Aprilia manufacturing site, the role holder will also work alongside Procurement colleagues for procurement activities relating to common contracts with the Milan commercial business (90/10 ratio)

The role is part of a matrix Procurement organisation and the role holder will contribute, directly or indirectly, to the management of suppliers and implementation of sourcing strategies and other Procurement projects for the sites in their remit. They will also relationships across functions and with third parties to manage interfaces between Procurement and sites, balancing the expectations of both Procurement and sites stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and execution

  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and executing both short- and long-term plans to enhance procurement processes, improving overall site performance compliance and operational efficiency
  • Implement Global Procurement frameworks, including policies, processes, guidelines, and strategies at the site level, ensuring compliance and consistency across operation
  • Serve as the key interface between Procurement and Site teams, balancing expectations and fostering collaboration to achieve shared business goals
  • Ensure site requirements are represented within the definition and implementation of Regional and Global Category strategies
  • Develop and execute local procurement strategies tailored to site-specific spend categories that align with overall business objectives and deliver measurable value
  • Manage relationships with remote Procurement colleagues to ensure alignment, collaboration, and delivery of common objectives

Procurement Management

  • Lead the end-to-end Procurement function at the site, encompassing Direct Materials, Manufacturing Indirects, and Capex categories
  • Manage Site related Indirect Procurement spend above Procurement engagement thresholds
  • Develop and manage the local supply base to meet Haleon’s standards for assurance of supply, quality, compliance, service, cost optimization, and innovation, maintaining agility in a fast-paced environment
  • Formulate and gain endorsement of long-term category visions from key local stakeholders, ensuring alignment with site and global strategic goals.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts for site managed categories to secure optimal value, compliance, and supplier performance
  • Drive cost optimization across Directs, Manufacturing Indirects, and Capex to achieve measurable reductions in total cost of ownership
  • Enhance the site’s financial performance through the implementation of best-in-class procurement practices that positively influence working capital and the balance sheet
  • Balance strategic and operational priorities to ensure uninterrupted supply , critical to sustaining Haleon’s revenue streams
  • Support 2nd touch supplier escalations in collaboration with Category Procurement teams

Benefit delivery and Innovation

  • Execute strategies collaboratively to achieve benefits in quality, service, cost, and innovation
  • Work closely with Site finance to meet Haleon's financial goals
  • Discover innovative value creation methods, such as value engineering and lean techniques
  • Continuous improvement of process & performance within the site categories and supply base
  • Manage benefits according to the Procurement Plan and Savings Methodology

Quality and Risk Management

  • Implement initiatives to enhance the quality and reduce lead times of materials.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies to ensure supply security, such as de-risking and dual sourcing.
  • Additionally deliver key business requirements across quality, regulatory and service.
  • Ensure Third Party Risk Management is considered in all supplier sourcing decisions and interactions.

Business partnering & stakeholder management in Haleon

  • Develop relationships with senior stakeholders in Quality & Supply Chain to create and implement procurement strategies, agree RACIs/ DAI and business requirements
  • Collaborate with Finance & Legal to meet Haleon's financial, commercial, and legal goals.
  • Represent Procurement as a Business Partner, leading initiatives like monthly reviews and QBRs.
  • Develop good understanding of Haleon brands and markets

External supplier relationships

  • Manage the supply base for the site managed categories and suppliers through strong performance management.
  • Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers to drive value and mitigate risks, using cost control, simplification, complexity reduction and KPIs.
  • Oversee contract planning, negotiation, execution and maintenance with regional suppliers.

Team and capability development

  • Support the capability development of colleagues across the function.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to sub-team members.
  • Take charge of one’s own development.
  • Develop and share best practice across the team.

Qualifications & Skills: 

Language skills: fluent in speaking and writing Italian and English.

Preferred Level of Education: Bachelor’s Degree 

Area of Specialisation: Procurement, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing within FMCG/Consumer Healthcare industries is preferable.

  • 5+ years of operational Procurement experience across multiple categories  
  • Excellent knowledge of Procurement tools such as sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review, supplier development and others 
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing site procurement , categories, particularly category strategy development and implementation, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management  
  • In-depth understanding of external environment and supplier relationship models 
  • Strong knowledge of finance (cost benchmark, financial audit with key suppliers) and legal matters (contracting) 
  • Clear understanding of business value, business priorities, and potential implementation risks 
  • Significant experience working in a matrix (global/ regional) business environment 
  • Strong networking skills and a proven ability to build productive and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders and business partners 
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work in partnership with others to drive, implement and support change 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects using project management skills 
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communications, and influencing skills 
  • Ability to work in high pressure environment, often under tight deadlines 
  • Experience with risk management
  • Good problem-solving skills to address issues/blockage 
  • support implementation and robustly forecast spend and savings.
  • Motivation for professional development and willingness to coach, mentor and train others
