What You Will Achieve
ROLE SUMMARY
Master Electrician must be a skilled craftsmen in their trade, and have a minimum of (2) year technical degree or trade school equivalency and (3) years actual/practical working experience as a Master Electrician in the industrial/commercial electrical equipment service industry. A State of Michigan Master license is required.
The Master Electrician must also possess strong leadership, project management and communications skills. In addition to the primary duties of serving as the site’s Master Electrician (primary responsibility), the selected candidate will work as a member of the Medium Voltage team (secondary responsibility).
The Medium Voltage team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the site’s medium voltage (480V – 13,200V) electrical distribution system. The incumbent will regularly operate and maintain substations, breakers, motor controls, high voltage cable and distribution pole lines.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Master Electrician (Approximately 50% of work load, primary responsibly)
Serve as the Pfizer Kalamazoo Master Electrician of Record with the State of Michigan.
Apply for electrical permits on behalf of Pfizer Kalamazoo.
Inspect Electrical work being performed by Pfizer employees to ensure the work being performed is within the standards of the National Electric Code.
Coordinate inspection visits with the State and Local Inspectors.
Support, review and develop National Electric Code training programs on site. This can include but is not limited to; coordinating National Electric Code update classes for all State of Michigan Journeyman/Master Electrician license holders, apprentice training curriculum review, and other ad hoc training needs.
Provide electrical SME support to the site on an as needed basis.
Review work hours and attest for Pfizer Electrical Apprentice and Journeyman hours to allow for State Licensing testing.
Assist with Pfizer’s Electrical Apprenticeship program.
Develop and maintain data base of Pfizer Employee Electrical Licensing
Coordinate and Facilitate monthly site Electrician Meeting.
Medium Voltage Electrician (50% of work load, secondary responsibility)
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
Education and Experience:
High school diploma/general education degree (GED) plus either an Associate degree or relevant trade school equivalency.
State of Michigan Electrical Master License.
Minimum of three years of work experience as a Master Electrician in an industrial/commercial environment. Work experience with medium voltage preferred.
Self-starter with ability to work independently.
Strong work ethic and the ambition to be the best.
Project management skill set
Able to lead teams
Technical Skills Requirements:
Excellent computer skills are required (Microsoft systems).
Excellent communication skills are required.
Ability to read drawings/electrical diagrams.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Routinely exposed to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in motion, noisy, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
May work variable shifts and 24 hour on call as required.
