As the Site Finance Controller Assistant for Barry-Wehmiller Converting at our Gandhinagar facility, you will provide hands-on oversight of all finance, accounting, compliance, reporting and planning activities. You will serve as the primary finance business partner to the on-site leadership team, ensuring strong financial discipline, accurate reporting, and compliance with Indian statutory requirements and global financial practices. In addition, you will serve as a key communicator to the Platform organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Lead and execute the financial strategy for the site to support business goals and profitability.
Partner with local and global finance leaders to ensure alignment with broader BW Converting priorities.
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
Manage all accounting functions including month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reimbursements, fixed asset accounting and intercompany transactions.
Prepare timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with Indian GAAP and internal reporting standards.
Governance over BOM accuracy, routing validation, and cost rollups.
Review and approve inventory adjustments, scrap write-offs, and production variance postings.
Ensure controls over:
Production order closure
WIP valuation
Standard cost updates
Lead periodic process walkthroughs with operations to validate financial touchpoints.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Design Site-level Internal Financial Control (IFC/ICFR) framework aligned to global policies.
Periodic Internal control self-assessment (ICSA) and remediation tracking.
Ensure segregation of duties (SoD) within ERP workflows.
Ensure compliance with Indian statutory requirements (GST, Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, etc.) and global policies.
Coordinate statutory and internal audits and manage risk.
Oversees cycle counts and physical inventory to ensure the accuracy and proper valuation
Manage the plant’s standard costing systems and analyze manufacturing variances to identify cost saving opportunities and a clear picture of margins/profitability.
Oversight of vendor onboarding controls (MSME classification, GST validation, bank detail verification).
Enforce 3-way matching compliance (PO–GRN–Invoice).
Periodic review of:
Open POs
Price variance
Manual payment approvals.
Period-End Close & Financial Integrity Controls
Certification of balance sheet reconciliations.
Review of manual journals and override entries.
Monitoring of unusual transactions and suspense accounts.
Drive close checklist governance and audit trail integrity.
ERP & Data Governance Controls
Control over ERP master data governance:
Material masters
Vendor/customer masters
Cost center structures
Participate in system change governance (new modules, costing updates).
Review user access roles with IT periodically.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
Lead site budgeting and forecasting cycles; monitor performance against plans.
Provide variance analysis, KPI dashboards, financial insights, and proactive recommendations to improve performance.
Cash Flow & Treasury
Oversee cash flow planning, banking relationships, and working capital management for the site.
Business Partnering & Decision Support
Collaborate with local leadership to optimize operational efficiencies and profitabilities.
Act as a trusted advisor to site operations, supply chain, sales and other functional leaders.
Support pricing analyses, investment decisions, cost optimization efforts, and project financial evaluations.
Effectively translate financial data into actionable business outcomes.
Proactively focus on process improvement, discipline, and results Team Leadership
Mentor and develop finance and accounting staff aligned with business needs.
Foster a performance culture focused on accuracy, efficiency, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Manage change and lead business transformations such as implementing new technology or mergers/acquisitions.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) / CPA / MBA Finance or equivalent from a reputed institution.
Experience: 6-10+ years of progressive finance experience with hands-on accounting, controllership, or finance leadership in a manufacturing, converting, or related industrial environment.
Skills:
Strong understanding of Indian tax & statutory compliance and Indian GAAP; familiarity with US GAAP preferred.
Excellent financial planning, reporting and analytical skills.
Experience building and leading finance teams in a matrixed, global environment.
ERP proficiency (e.g., SAP, Oracle, OneStream) and strong Excel/BI tool skills.
Strong communication skills in both English and local languages
Experience with US-headquartered or global companies.
Exposure to transfer pricing, SOX/controls frameworks, and global reporting requirements.
