Job Description Summary
The Site Director holds accountability for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the College Park site. As a senior leader on-site, this role is responsible for the end-to-end leadership of all site functions, including Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Warehouse & Logistics, EHS, and facility management. The Site Director ensures that approved products are manufactured safely, on time, and in full compliance with quality, regulatory, and cost standards.
This individual brings extensive experience in Operations Management, with a proven track record in commercial manufacturing, scale-up execution, and driving performance in complex, highly regulated environments. The Site Director leads cross-functional teams to deliver on business-critical objectives, foster a culture of continuous improvement and Operational Excellence, and build sustainable capabilities across site operations.
In close alignment with corporate goals, the Site Director is responsible for developing and executing the site’s long-term strategy, including capital planning, workforce development, and risk management. The role also serves as a representative of the College Park site in internal and external forums, including regulatory inspections, corporate reviews, and community engagement.
Job Description
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute the site’s long-term strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
Drive Operational Excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across all functions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership regarding site performance and issues.
Site Governance & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with all internal policies and external regulations (e.g., FDA, HPRA, EPA).
Own the manufacturing facility’s governance model, risk management framework, and inspection readiness programs.
Operational and Financial Accountability
Oversee site functions including Manufacturing, Engineering, Warehouse and Logistics, Facilities with EHS reporting into both Site Director and Director Global EHS
Manage site-level budget, financial planning, and capital investment planning.
People and Culture
Lead the plant leadership team, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and engagement.
Develop talent, drive succession planning, and promote diversity and inclusion.
Promote a high-performance culture through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
Key member of the overall Site Leadership Team (SLT)
Stakeholder Management
Act as site ambassador to external bodies, including regulatory agencies, local and global stakeholders.
Build strong internal networks with site business partners to align objectives and execution.
Operational Excellence and Site Readiness
Lead the development and execution of strategies to scale, evolve, and future-proof site operations in line with Mallinckrodt’s long-term business objectives. This includes current scale-up initiatives, capacity expansion, and readiness for new technologies and products.
Apply expertise in manufacturing operations and scale-up execution, ensuring seamless integration of new capabilities into the plant’s operational model, while maintaining safety, compliance, and performance standards.
Drive a culture of operational excellence, embedding Lean principles, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management to enable high performance in both growth and steady-state conditions.
Champion operational readiness for new processes, systems, or regulatory requirements, partnering closely with Global Technical Operations, Quality, Engineering, Regulatory, and Supply Chain functions.
Ensure the site’s infrastructure, talent, and processes are agile and scalable, capable of adapting to future changes, evolving technologies, and shifting market demands.
Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum Degree level qualification in a related discipline (Chemistry, Engineering, Biotechnology etc.) plus 10-15 years relevant experience in a cGMP commercial manufacturing environment with demonstrated accountability for site-level or large-scale operations in a cGMP environment.
Managerial and Plant Leadership experience in commercial manufacturing operations, including leading large teams and multi-functional departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS).
Proven track record in technology transfer, scale-up execution, and new product introduction (NPI), from late-stage development through commercial launch.
Understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, HPRA, HSA, EPA) and experience preparing for and leading major inspections.
Experience managing significant capital investment projects, including facility expansions and equipment upgrades, aligned with strategic business objectives.
Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed global organisation, collaborating effectively across Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Commercial, and corporate teams.
Experience of Budget Preparations, Control and Management of Finance spending.
The individual needs to be self-motivated and self-managing. Able to identify, execute and prioritise work tasks/projects with an awareness of escalation responsibility as needed.

Proven ability to operate effectively in both high-growth and steady-state environments.
High level of resilience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence.
Experience managing or supporting corporate governance processes, including regulatory inspections, audits, and business reviews.
