About the role

Site Director role is a key member of Regional Quality & Supply by leading the Haleon Guayama Manufacturing Site in Puerto Rico. This role is fundamental in leading the overall operations of multiple production and development business units including Manufacturing, Packaging, Planning and Technical functions, with indirect leadership across Quality Assurance, Compliance and Human Resources.

The role leads the development and implementation of plans and programs to provide equipment and facilities to meet technological and production requirements and to position the site as a preferred global manufacturing site. Leads the Site Leadership Team (SLT) to develop and execute site strategy, drive performance and build a high-performing organization.

Your leadership is critical in directly contributing and delivering on business growth, ensuring that our consumers are centric to everything we do, whether in planning, efficiency outputs and cost management.

About the site

Haleon’s Guayama site is a large-scale, strategically critical manufacturing hub within the global network, supporting North America and international markets. Established in 1988, the site manufactures and packages Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) products and powders across both drug products and dietary supplements. The site plays a pivotal role as the primary supply hub for Advil in the US and LATAM, alongside global supply for key vitamin and OTC brands.

Key responsibilities:

  • Creating a site excellence vision/business strategy (short/medium and long term) aligned to overall all Regional and Global for the site that provides clear road map so that everyone in site can contribute and achieve it. Creates a clear infrastructure around it with robust governance at all levels.
  • Establishing systems supporting the execution of the site strategy, with processes to communicate the strategic direction of the business, understand current business performance and identify the opportunities that will close the gap between current performance and the strategic goals.
  • Delivering a clear and concise Business Strategy Execution and HAPS Continuous Improvement plan to improve E2E.
  • Inspires, coaches and mentors the team to site strategy setting and development.
  • Ensures the manufacturing and supply of Haleon products are in line with Haleon’s short & longterm production plans.
  • Develops guidelines and manages results for all operations responsible for producing, monitoring and shipping 100% of all Business Unit products.
  • Analyses and approves the site’s production schedule as it relates to inventories, capacity utilization, workloads, and sales forecasts and provides necessary systems for detailed capacity analysis, analyses capacity output and approves appropriate short and long term goals. 
  • Pursues new business opportunities to maximize plant utilization of assets and people while meeting cost and profit objectives.
  • Establishes state-of-the-art equipment, facilities, procedures, practices, and methodologies to conduct needed production operations, development & transfer activities and laboratory testing. 
  • Directs the development and implementation of new and transfer products and workflow optimization initiatives, which positively impact the site’s P&L, cycle time, productivity and quality of work. 
  • Prepares annual budgets for departmental responsibilities and control of costs to within budgetary restraints.
  • Reviews and approves Capital Appropriations Requests for new equipment and facilities; reviews and expedites project schedules for new equipment of facility installations and supervises preparation of the production section of the capital expenditures budget and controls expenditures.
  • Accountable for providing a work environment free from recognized hazards and in compliance with all laws, regulations and HSE guidelines.
  • Co-ordinates and directs diverse production and technical functional activities on site toward achievement of goals.
  • Proactively manages risk inherent in production and site operations to ensure supply continuity to Haleon’s Commercial Business.
  • Ensures Site Compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory requirements.
  • Promotes a strong safety culture by modelling safe behaviours and holding self and others accountable for working safely.
  • Ensures the organisation capability is aligned towards the pursuit of operational excellence, attainment of Good Manufacturing Practice and NPI Excellence.
  • Manages of change initiatives involving processes, technologies and people which contribute to the overall effective improvement in the Supply Chain.
  • Represents the face of Haleon to external bodies, customers, and local community within region/country.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Minimum B.S. degree level in Engineering, Business, Chemistry, Biology or related Science with specialization in Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline required
  • Minimum 10 years Management experience within Manufacturing and Supply environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Mature site experience in order to deliver objectives, deal with processes and employment issues, understand GMP Compliance requirements, as well as direct staff and site associates to deliver the operational needs of the organization.

Preferred

  • MBA qualified
  • In depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or 6 Sigma for the purpose of enhancing the site’s strategic goal of being a global manufacturing site (Black Belt accredited)
  • Technical Background with experience of working in / leading a production team
  • Working knowledge of cGMP, EHS & Quality regulations, logistics/supply, technical & finance demonstrated over 10+ years in the Consumer Healthcare industry and preferably in FMCG Industry
  • Experience of working at more than one site as Site Director
  • Professional certification (e.g., CHMM, CIH, CSP)
