Simulator pilot Instructor/Lead Instructor KC-30A

The Simulator Pilot Instructor / Lead Instructor- KC30A is responsible for delivering high‑quality aircrew training in accordance with RAAF AIT standards on the KC‑30A MRTT aircraft. The role supports safe, effective, and compliant simulator-based training outcomes while contributing to a high‑performing instructional team and upholding CAE values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering simulator-based pilot instruction in accordance with RAAF AIT and CAE training standards for the KC‑30A MRTT aircraft.
  • Maintaining authorisation as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor as approved by the Commanding Officer of RAAF CFS.
  • Conducting aircrew training activities aligned with approved syllabi, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing clear, effective instruction, assessment, and feedback to trainees in a professional learning environment.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of training delivery, safety, and instructional quality.
  • Working collaboratively within a high-performing instructional and operational team.
  • Upholding CAE values, safety standards, and professional conduct at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, qualifications required to be authorised by the Commanding Officer of RAAF CFS as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor in accordance with RAAF AIT standards on the KC‑30A MRTT aircraft.
  • Hold, or ability to obtain, a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or recognised equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years Military Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) or Operational Flying Instructor (OFI) experience in an aircrew training environment (or military equivalent), or meet one of the following experience thresholds:
    • Minimum of 1,000 command hours on a military air‑to‑air refuelling aircraft, or
    • Minimum of 1,000 hours as first pilot on an Airbus aircraft, or
    • Previous qualification as a KC‑30A MRTT Captain.
  • Hold a minimum civilian Grade 2 instructor rating and meet at least one of the following:
    • Minimum of 1,000 command hours on a military air‑to‑air refuelling aircraft.
    • Minimum of 1,000 hours as first pilot on an Airbus aircraft.
    • Previous qualification as a KC‑30A MRTT Captain.
  • Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a high‑performing team.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold CAE values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in an aviation training role.
  • Previous Military QFI or OFI experience on the KC‑30A MRTT aircraft.
  • Current or previous Military Qualified Flying Instructor or Operational Flying Instructor rating, or civil equivalent, with a minimum of 500 hours in airborne instruction and training roles.
  • Experience as a flight simulator instructor.
